They were playing 'Jingle Bells' in my local Sam's Club.* I complained to the pimply staff, like the old curmudgeon I am.

* I have to shop at Sam's Club for work. I swallow my principles - and as much of their free food samples as I can muster.

use ear plugs (guess they are called ear-defenders on the other side of the pond :unsure:)

This extending of the Cristmas season really pisses me off. Thay play so much Christmas music from mid-Nov through New Years Day that I have grown to hate Christamas music.

I like Xmas music - I have over 60 Xmas CDs. It's just that I like to hear it at, you know, Xmas.

I really like Christmas music too. But yeah when they start it too early, it takes away part of why it's special and fun!

Its just the music I have grown to hate....if they played it a week or 2 before Christmas I could still like it. This month and a half Xmas season is crazy and has nothing to do with the baby jesus at all.

Yeah I know what you mean - I heard a bunch of Xmas music when I was channel hopping on the car radio the other day. #######!? Its October! Seems to get earlier and earlier this year (the Xmas advertising season used to start right after Thanksgiving as I recall) - I'm guessing its because retailers are hurting from the bad economy and reminding people its Xmas soon gets them to go out and spend money in stores.

For (frugal) shoppers, the Christmas season oft starts in January, extending to August.

For the music, it used to be that it started around US Thanksgiving; I guess after NAFTA, they decided they had to "welcome" the Canuck workers so start it up @ Canuck Thanksgiving (2nd October Monday) instead.

I also shop a lot at Sam's and they've been selling Christmas stuff for over a month. Halloween displays were up in August. :lol:

I still prefer Costco but them guys raised their annual membership to $50, Sam's only charges $40. <_<
