Was determined to try to watch a full hour of his BS, just couldn't take it any longer, so switched to How It's Made. Did you know they use a 20 ton press to push in corks into wine bottles? No wonder why they are a ###### to get out.

What Lou Dobbs should ask himself, is he doing any good. He may not know the answer to that, but we certainly do.

CNN leans a little left, but FOX is WAY right. At least CNN will bring on a dem expert & a repub expert... 95% of the time Fox just has the right winger on. They also have McCain & Palin on 24/7... I think I saw Obama once... probably was in a negative McCain ad!

Pretty much all of those guys are of a muchness. Loud, obnoxious demagogues who don't discuss anything as much as shout the odds.

Clearly that is sufficient for a lot of people who see the Dobbs' and O'Reilly's as people who "tell it like it is". Its not my bag though.

It actually occurred to me the other day that this is something that seems to be exclusive to the US media - I never ever saw a commentator in the UK who would go as far as endorsing a particular political candidate (or even show any overt preference that way) or who would go in for the sort of screaming match that Bill O'Reilly gave to Barney Frank the other week. Its pretty strange to me, but I think its clear (at least to me) that the appeal of these guys lies in their ability to agitate the emotions of their viewers.

If you've not been conditioned to be emotionally invested in news programs - much of this kind of thing seems really very odd, but at the same time its quite obvious how it feeds into the rampant partisanship that's on display.
