Gov. Sarah Palin's wardrobe has provoked admiration and envy. Politico has now uncovered evidence that the Republican National Committee paid $150,000 for a shopping spree that started in early September "to clothe and accessorize" the governor and her family. It's all there, buried in federal financial disclosure records, including:

* $49,425.74 from Saks Fifth Avenue in St. Louis and New York

* A $75,062.63 spree at Neiman Marcus in Minneapolis, site of the GOP convention

* $295 for a top of the line baby stroller for the governor's infant

That's more than the $125,000 that Alaska taxpayers pay the governor.

The full Politico report is here, including a trip down memory lane about some (vastly smaller) candidate expenditures that generated outrage, such as John Edwards' $400 haircut.

Here's the spin from the McCain campaign, fresh from my inbox:

"With all of the important issues facing the country right now, it's remarkable that we're spending time talking about pantsuits and blouses. It was always the intent that the clothing go to a charitable purpose after the campaign," said McCain-Palin spokesperson Tracey Schmitt.

Is it so remarkable? Would donors and voters expect a "maverick" to turn $150,000 of campaign cash into couture?

And c'mon. Was there really a decision from the outset to donate the clothes? What sort of charity recipient would have occasion to wear outfits like the one she wore for the vice presidential debate, for instance?

And, what exactly had she planned to wear if she wins the vice presidency? If she gives all that nice stuff away, that is.

Now, where did I misplace that "smell test" kit....

My god. Who ###### cares?

It's no wonder why we end up with a couple of idiots running for office. The smart ones are not going to put up with this BS.

PEOPLE: READ THE APPLICATION FORM INSTRUCTIONS!!!! They have a lot of good information in them! Most of the questions I see on VJ are clearly addressed by the form instructions. Give them a read!! If you are unable to understand the form instructions, I highly recommend hiring someone who does to help you with the process. Our process, from K-1 to Citizenship and U.S. Passport is completed. Good luck with your process.

Tsk, she can't wear campaign clothes into a Vice Presidency; that's just silly talk....she'd get a whole new wardrobe!

But when we turn to the Hebrew literature, we do not find such jokes about the donkey. Rather the animal is known for its strength and its loyalty to its master (Genesis 49:14; Numbers 22:30).
