I'm not sure where the actual recipe is - gnocchi can be either a main dish or an appetizer (don't remember which version I posted). This is not MENA food though so not sure if you want to add it.

It's ok, I'm entering most of them, wether reeeeeeeally MENA or not coz they are VJ MENA Family recipes. It's basically for all the ppl who have MENA spouses to see what other intercultural, via MENA, families are agreeing to eat in their homes..... That's why I can't figure out a good title for the book yet...*snarl*... lol. I think it would be great for the newer VJ MENA'ers too, to have readily available so they can have ideas at their fingertips when their spouses get here... (I know I could have used one back in the beginning  )

I think I'll put it in as an appetizer  thanks for ur quick response.

Ok girls and guys! I just got done inputting the last recipe in the cookbook!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! alhamdulillah!!! Now I gotta figure out the perfect name. I'm really excited about this!!! there are over 50 main meals, 30 or so desserts, 15 to 20ish soups/stews, 15 or so salads/dressings/dips, 20 or more appetizers....It's really fantastic!

I'll also be soon deciding if I can find a nice way to add the spices and the arabic translations for them. If I can, it will be even better!!!!!

I think we may have to increase the price a bit to include the shipping costs. The book is over 200 pages so it is fairly heavy. I'm discussing the best options with my husband as I sit here and type this so I'll let you know as soon as we figure that out. We're also looking for other printing companies to see if we can get a cheaper price.

I'm gonna give them as christmas gifts to my co-workers, friends, and family so now I can relax a bit and know that I don't have to spend loads of money this christmas on everybody! And to make it even better...it is something that we MENA'ers all had a hand in making .. so it is really special (to me at least)!

So far it is at $20.00 - This may have to increase a little bit to cover the cost of shipping them from me to you. The 20 gets them to me so do u all think 27 would cover postage plus packaging? or is that too high?

The recipes are coming along well. I am not sure who did and who didn't post a copyrighted recipe. What I've done so far is post EXACTLY what was posted in the pinned thread, edit spelling errors (a couple I wasn't sure so I left them exactly as they were), put quotes on some items that the poster originally stated, put the date the recipe was originally posted, and leave the name of the book/chef the recipe was taken from. I think that should be ok, don't you all think?

So far it is only something I'm doing for the MENA forum but I am including all the recipes that were submitted...coz they are recipes that the MENA girls have tried, used, and recommended. I think they might be interesting gifts for relatives and/or co-workers who are interested in MENA recipes and/or other tried and true recipes from ur friends. I've got about 50 or so recipes copied down so far and have only gotten to page 30 of Sultan's Kitchen.

In this thread, I'm looking for ideas for names for the cookbook. I'd like to keep it VJ related coz this is where it began. So far, I've thought about...

Sultan's Kitchen

VJ's MENA Cookbook - Direct from the Sultan's Kitchen

Sultan's Kitchen - A taste of ME/NA

Sultan's Pocket Recipes

These are just some ideas. Please help me out to find the most fun name for our MENA cookbook.

I'd also like to add that I will be adding recipes up until about the 1st week of November so if you have a recipe you want to add, please do so ASAP so I can get it into the book. Whatever recipes you all use a lot in ur homes will be accepted. ME/NA type recipes are, of course, preferred since it IS a MENA cookbook (for the most part)

If you want to quote a recipe from somewhere, please leave the information on who/what/where you got the recipe so credit can be given where credit is due.

I will be using the VJ screen name of the person that posted the recipe AND the date of which it was posted. If you do not want your VJ name used, please let me know so I can change ur name to "unknown".

If you know some ppl that used to play in MENA and are not regular posters anymore, feel free to contact them and see if they'd be interested in a copy as well. I will be needing addresses too but not right now. I'll wait until I'm a bit further with the project before I take that information.

ok see... now that I have this fabulous cook book-- I'm after additional information! LOL-- When hubby and I were in Egypt, we went to a restraunt that served this "Famous Egyptian pasta" stuff... It had macaroni noodles, lentils, tomato sauce, I beleive semonila??? and those french fried onions... it was actually VERY good, but I don't know the name of it. I could punt and see if I got a home run, but I doubt I'd get the same results!!! HELP Please My MENA friends and family!--Thanks---Amy

What price would you all feel is fair? $25? $20? 15?

Ok, that is enough from me for now. leave any feedback here and I'll do my best to consider every recommendation.

Thanks everyone!
