I will be interested in getting a copy of the book as well. Love the title ideas and the $20 price tag sounds fare.

P.S. Noura, please make sure that your recipe for the chicken with green olives and french fries is added as well. I made it this weekend and it was huge hit.

DC.

Green olives and French fries? Oh Noura would you please PM it to me! I made the b'stilla again for our aniversery, Kamal loves it!

I just added it to the Sultan's Kitchen... but to be fair, I got it from Jenn!.

...and one of our members are no longer with us to give her permission. :(

I need hands on, in person, lessons on rice. Does oil really go in it? Ibrahim says yes, I never heard of putting oil in rice.

hey jp,,,i need a new vj name :)

I have never put oil on rice. Maybe he means browning it first before cooking, like you'd do w/ rice-a-roni?

I always put oil in my rice...always. I mainly use 3 kinds of rice...

Uncle bens...always use oil. I use this rice when making a dish where no stew tops the rice

Jasmine rice...always use oil I use this rice when making a dish that is topped by stew and for magloobeh

Calrose rice...sometimes use oil I use this rice for mahshi and mansaf. For mansaf, I do toast the rice in oil. For mahshi (all kinds) I add the oil to the stuffing mixture.

Besides not sticking...the rice definitly takes on a different flavor when it is toasted in oil before adding water and salt.

VJ Hours - I am available M-F from 10am - 5pm PST. I will occasionaly put in some OT for a fairly good poo slinging thread or a donut.

That's the key. Toasting it. I wouldn't add oil if I wasn't toasting it first. Like to make a pilaf or something else.

I've never had a problem with making perfect rice with nothing but water! But I do agree pilaf does give it a nice flavor when you sautee onion and/or garlic, toast the rice, add water, and boil.

Amal,

Here is just a suggestion and you can check it out if you would like. My family just had a family reunion. We all went to this website called www.heritagecookbook.com. My cousin started the cookbook and sent all of us User ID's to log on and put the recipes in there. Once everyone was all done they printed them and shipped them to us for our family reunion. we selected a name and picture for the cookbook and the cost to us was $10 for each book and ended up being like 150 pages. It was spiral bound and very nice. they added notes and such to the bottom of each page. I am sure you can do whatever you would like. I really wasnt involved in it, other than submitting my recipes. You can check it out if you would like. I would like to have a cookbook as I collect cookbooks. It is nice not to have loose pages and they get lost so easily. So add me to the list please!

Just a thought!

Thanks for that idea! If I wasn't trying to help my hubby out in getting more products for his portfolio, I would definitely give it a try.

Hubster is in graphic design, doing signs, brochures, magazines, flyers, small books, business cards, etc etc etc... so I'm gonna have him do the designing and processing of the cookbook (unless it becomes too much for him).

I appreciate the suggestion! If anyone else has suggestions, please feel free to voice ur opinions coz the more suggestions there are, the more awesome the book will be.
