Hi,

I've now been waiting for my NOA2 since Feb. and I was sort of hoping I'd be able to find out more about my delay after processing times were updated putting my case officially overdue. Well, it hasn't mattered so far--not much difference on getting any info and I've tried a few avenues so I'll continue waiting.

Anyway, obviously I'm getting more and more worried there's a problem with my case. Does anyone out there have experience getting your NOA2 approved after it was in processing for more than 8 months? If so, did you ever find out why the processing took so long for you? Did you have to contact anyone in particular and was it effective? (I've already contacted my Senators and Congressman)

Thanks for the info, I'm holding up some hope here.

Was there some unusual circumstance in your situation? Your filing was complete and ready for processing when you provided the RFE. Calling USCIS directly may give you some insight.

No, nothing I'm aware of. I don't know why my case is taking longer than everyone else on this website...They don't tell you and that's what is most frustrating.

I have called quite a bit to find out anything and no luck.

Last week, I called to expedite my case (this was when we were technically within their posted processing times) due to escalated military fighting close to where my fiance lives in Cambodia.....I was told I'd hear something back in five days. I called after five days and I was told they would file a request for a status on my request and the Center has 30 days to respond to that request! Ummmmm, do you think these procedures are documented somewhere? And who wrote them? I'm literally laughing to keep from crying....If the goal of the USCIS is to make folks feel helpless...Congrats!

There are several people here who have waited as long. There are security checks at every stage of this process that can hold you up. Getting an answer from someone at the USCIS may be difficult but if you've already contacted your rep's then all you can really do is call the USCIS until perhaps you are lucky enough to get someone that actually might know what they are talking about. ;)

After a bit more time you can contact the uscis ombudsman who's job it is to look into cases that are taking longer than the posted processing times.

Sorry you got stuck. Good luck to you!

Sounds like they are feeding you a line of bull$hit.

I would be on the phone asking for supervisors and trying to get straight answers.

Hi MLD,

I think I feel your frustration. NOA1 was received in mid March for me and since then there was apparently one touch on the case. So, after the processing time has been updated on the USCIS website, I decided to give them a call and see what is up. I was told that the case is outside of the processing time (like I couldn't figure that out already) and because I am the benificiary (sp?) I need to have the petitioner call them.

I guess I'll just have to wait and see. Anyway, good luck to you! I hope you will get your NOA2 soon!

Yeah, that's really all I can do....I'll keep calling. I've learned it is a toss-up on who you get on the phone--some people know much more than others. ...Bottom line, there's no oversight and no accountability. Now, I've talked to all of my reps who have really just shrugged their shoulders, rolled their eyes and said they'll try but the fact is, we'll just need to continue waiting.......That is the part that really frustrates me--elected officials know how poorly this department gets run, but don't do anything about it! I'm 32, I used to be a proponent of big government in hopes that our communities thrive on more tax dollars sent to organizations and departments who help build and support our country's infrastruture. Evidently, I was naive in thinking those organzations and departments would be managed well. I haven't lost complete faith but this experience has been eye-opening.

hi,

i can tell u we have been waiting for more than a year for our noa2.......on a sad note......no amount of calling will do any good we have tried and are still trying.......getting ur congressman and senator involved only makes them send them a letter claiming ur case is in security and once they state that there is nothing anyone can do to make it go faster and nobody can really say why some cases take longer than others .........i feel for u its very frustrating....but at the same time

we have to stay positive and never give up........i believe it should be a crime against humanity to do what they are doing to us but then im sure there are those that would disagree.....as far as i know there have been no terrorist that ever applied for marraige visa or k1 visa ........but then immigration dont tell us much so maybe there has been at some point in time.......i thought when they listed 6 months for processing on their site that it would mean since we have passed that time frame two times now it would make a difference but i called today and still same old story ur in normal security check so the next thing that all of us can look forward to that have waited so long is the fact that they are suppose to have all of us with a long time in security to clear next year.....while im sure that answer does not make u any more happy than it did us at least its something to look forward to.......i will pray for u and hope u get ur noa2 fast

Estadia, I do feel for your situation but my fiance and I have already decided we won't wait the same amount of time you have. If there's no decision, then I'm finding a way to relocate and make a living.

If they told you that your security might clear next year then I'd be really worried. What possible background check would take longer than 1 year? Are they on foot in the investigation? That doesn't make much sense.

I admire your will to see this through but I'll tell you, we don't want to spend our lives talking on the phone and emailing.

i was talking about the new regulations they put into effect of clearing up all the older out standing cases that have been in security to long we also do not intend to spend the rest of our lifes emailing talking on the phone or chat but we have came this far so im thinking they wont be much longer but i guess nobody knows for sure they as i have said before dance to their own tune and can and do make up things as they go along........we tried to get ours expedited but we were told that our case had just gone into extra review in aug of this year i informed that it was wrong cuz we have a letter they wrote to our senator stating we were in extra review in may of this year so seems they dont know what anyone has done previous to when they started the extra review again after receiving the request for expedition

Yes its mind boggling why it would take over a year! They talk about the amount of illegal immigrants in the country and here on this site alone are thousands probably that are trying to do it the "legal" way and they make us wait, and wait. My honey and I really haven't been waiting long.....it makes me sad to read some of the peoples stories of how long they have been waiting. Between the money it costs when all is said and done, and the amount of time away from our loved ones its amazing there isn't more illlegals! Best of luck to all!

Agreed. I was talking with one of the contacts for my reps about that very issue today. It's something that you could say is one of the issues surrounding illegal immigration (there are other issues with that too but this could be one of the causes). This political run is focused on the economy for the obvious reasons but some other time, some smart politician will and should a make a platform on tightening this legal immigration process as a means to curbing illegal immigration.

Anyway, I'm going to stop my complaining now and get off the soapbox because I know it's not helpful to anyone...Good luck to you all and especially you Estadia, what you're going through just is not fair and I hope it all turns out for the best. :)
