Hi I got a question I'm hoping someone can help me out with.

My fiance needs a Canadian police clearance from the RCMP, and she decided to goto Canada from her country Japan, next week to do her fingerprints electornically there and save a lot of time. Here is my question:

She use to live in Canada and went to school there for a few years, then after her schooling she applied for a work visa and was denied. Although this was a couple years ago, I am wondering if Canada will not allow her in for some reason (I do not know how strict they are about these situations). The only proof she has for her return is a return ticket (no job, house, etc).

If they ask, we plan on telling them the story of how she must go and get her fingerprints for a US Visa, and she is gonna bring her info from the embassy to prove it. Would you think she would have a problem with this? I do not know much about Canadian immigration.

Thanks for any help.

it takes an excess of 120 days by mail. we found a company that can do it electronically in canada, and it takes 2-4 weeks until she gets it. we bought tickets and everything already, but im just curious on how strict they are for her.

When was she denied? Has she traveled to Canada since then? What happened when she was denied, was she told to leave?

Canada's immigration is getting stricter but if she tells the truth and has strong ties to Japan she'll be fine. Canada's officers are strict, but understanding as well. Good luck

I don't know how strict they are. Wouldn't hurt to phone the Canadian Border officials and find out if she might have a problem, and what she should be bringing with her. I know there are people in Canada that have had to get fingerprints, and have been told the wait is 5 months. Now, a few people that have gotten them, through the RCMP, have gotten them sooner than that, but the expectation is that the wait could be this long. Have you checked out the credibility of this "company" that says they're going to do this earlier? Where is she going to stay in Canada while awaiting this? If she has friends and/or family in Canada, this might impact on whether they'd let her in, thinking perhaps that's she might be trying to stay? I really don't know.

If this company is reliable, and you are successful with getting the prints back in 4 weeks, we can't tell you how appreciative we'd be if you'd share this info for us as there are people from Canada (and yes elsewhere) that would be very pleased about the quick turnaround. We'd need to know about this, the cost, where they are etc. to pass this information on.

Please ensure you get back to us, and the best of luck to you!

They're going to Commissionaires (www.commissionaires.ca). With electronic fingerprinting, the RCMP says they can process the prints in three days unless the person has any criminal convictions. Here's the RCMP link: http://www.rcmp-grc.gc.ca/crimrec/finger2_e.htm

wzuru,

Hopefully your fiancee will have better luck than I did.

Yes the company is called commissionaires. (commissionaires.ca). Bermycat told me about it and we really appreiciated it.

they can actually do it to where someone would not have to leave thier country. The lady said they can digitally scan ink fingerprints taken at your home country, so you would never have to leave the country, but the fact that Japanese officials do not sign their forms (it is a custom in Japan) made us have to go to there to do it.

She doesn't have family or friends or anything in Canada. But she also doesnt have much proof of a return, except a return ticket. The was denied from Canada about 2 - 3 years ago I believe.

Where would I find a number to contact a border official or someone who might know the answer?

Thank you.

Is there a Canadian POE at the airport she is flying from or does she go through it at her arrival airport? I would call the Canada Customs & Immigration department at the airport where she will be passing through the POE. You can find their contact information by going to the airport website. Alternatively, you can contact Citizenship & Immigration Canada.

Here is also Canada Border Services Agency.
