We went today to get his SSN and they wouldnt do it till he's been in the country for 30 days ... not good cuz he needs to start working asap ... is that true ? It sucks that we have to wait 30 days does anyone know why ?

Then we went to go get his ID and they said they needed the I-94. What the heck is that ? They said he should have gotten it at the POE .. which he didnt. All he got at the POE was his Welcome to America letter and a paper about applying for his SSN.

He did however open a cell phone account with me on it, and we just have to add him to my bank account.

Please help me with this I-94 !!

Reunited and it feels so good ....

Check his passport...there should have been a piece of paper stapled in it upon arrival. That is the I-94.

Yup the stapled piece of white paper is the I-94....

May 11 '09 - Case Approved 10 yr card in the mail

June - 10 yr card recieved

Feb. 19, 2010 - N-400 Application sent to Phoenix Lockbox

April 3, 2010 - Biometrics

May 17,2010 - Citizenship Test - Minneapolis, MN

July 16, 2010- Retest (writing portion)

October 13, 2010 - Oath Ceremony

Journey Complete!

OK hold on I dont see a staple white paper ... all I see is the Visa

The visa states : upon endorsement serves as temporary I-551 evidencing permanent residence for 1 year.

So where do I get this I-94 from ?? She said I have to go to immigration to get it. Is that true ?

An I-94 is the card that everyone entering the USA fills out on the plane (often referred to as a landing card). For temporary visitors it is green, for immigrants and visa holders it is white. The top portion would have had questions about the length of stay, address where the person will be staying etc.. All filled out by your husband on the plane. The bottom portion will have the date of entry into the US and a printed number ( I think).

When entering the US the top portion of the I-94 is removed and kept by the POE officer. The bottom portion is normally stapled into the passport but it may not have been. Either way the I-94 is a pretty important document and you should try to locate it. Your husband will more than likely be asked to show this document at other steps of his visa journey.

01/09/2008 - Biometrics taken in St. Louis

03/27/2008 - I-751 Approved, 10 Yr Greencard in the mail !!

12/20/2016 - N-400 mailed to Phoenix lockbox

01/17/2017 - NOA Received

01/25/2017 - Attended biometrics in St. Louis

09/29/2017 - Received I-797C notice dated 09/27/17.  Interview Scheduled for November 6th @ 8am

11/06/2017 - N400 interview in St. Louis.  Approved !!:jest:

02/05/2018 - Notice of Oath Ceremony date received.  March 1st, 2018 @ 8.30am

LB I only have the removal of conditions too on my husband. He has a half sheet of paper that does state the date he arrived and that he is conditional holder and when to lift conditions. I am curious too since we had hellish POE one week ago today.

Found this online. I do not think we get them since our husbands are immigrating permanently.

For nonimmigrant visitors entering the United States with a visa, there is a requirement to fill a Form I-94 (white form). This form has two specific perforated sections to it. The visitor or the carrier representative fills out Form I-94 upon arrival in the United States. The bottom section of Form I-94 is a departure coupon and must be returned to U.S. officials upon exiting the United States.

I'm going to call USCIS and figure this out ... but I would like to read them what you have with an apprpriate source.

I know that K1ers are supposed to get it, and they're also going to settle permanently in the US. I don't see how the folks on the plane would have any idea the sort of visa one is entering with, so I'm not sure why that would make a difference in who they give it to.

I guess how they treat it at POE *could* be different from visa type to visa type.

My husband applied for the ssn one week after his arrival. Got it in the mail one week later.

AS he is a I-551 holder from the moment he enters the US he does not need a I-94 arrival/departure record as he is already a Perminent resident.....

That's what I would think so too. The OP's spouse is a permanent resident already; maybe the office did not know the difference? I'd try again.

09-02-2005 Applications for AOS, EAD, and AP received by MSC

10-21-2005 AOS fingerprint notice for 12-08-2005

11-07-2005 AP approved

12-05-2005 Infopass appt at San Jose office for interim EAD -- Refused, because it is already approved by MSC on 11-07-2005

12-07-2005 Attempt at interim EAD at San Francisco office -- no go. Back to San Jose, where CSO (chief station officer) tells they will contact MSC via email to request permission to issue interim EAD

12-08-2005 Biometrics for AOS and EAD. Having no EAD appt letter was no problem (used EAD NOA)

12-15-2005 EAD arrived in the mail

12-24-2005 Received interview letter; interview scheduled 03-01-2006

01-28-2006 Received replacement SSN card in married name (5 wks since application)

03-01-2006 AOS interview -- approved; received stamp in the passport
