guys i have a q

does a person at DOS know what the last update to the case was? is there a way for them to see that?

when i called some times they give me a date, like last update to your case was etc etc and today when i called he said there is no way for them to see that...

i am so confused

wat do THEY KNOW? what can they tell us??

it seems like some pppl try to help by telling us the latest going on or just somehting but some ppl at DOS do not give anything out and come back to the same answer PENDING!

im so confused

any one know how DOS works?

I dont know how it works but when I called the last time, I asked same way and they lady put me on hold for about 5 mintues then she came back and told me that well it says here in the notes that blah blah blah... So I think there are agents that do know what is going on and tell you and other just they dont want to tells us anything

I hate that!!!! Am sorry this is taking so long... It's coming INSHALLAH I can feel it!!!

They CAN see the last update on the case. . .sometimes the information is a bit vague, but they do have a date and a summary.

When I discovered this *evil grin* I started just calling and saying, " I know x, y and z about the case. Can you tell me the date of the last update?"

Some of them were a bit miffed that I asked that way, but most answered the question.

i guess it just depends on the person that answers your call

maybe some ppl have rights to see and some ppl cant see anything but pending

its sooo frustrating!

In my opinion (from experience), that DOS Visa Department call-in line is a joke. Most of the agents can't find their butt with either hand. They also use the term "administrative processing" (words of death to any VJ member) very casually and loosely.

During my month of every-day calling, I asked one agent (innocently, and with a preamble of apology) whether she and the others were DOS employees or contract workers (like USCIS). She got offended, began sputtering, said that they were all DOS employees, got offended, wouldn't let me try to mollify her feelings, and gave me a lecture, then cut me off.

Honestly, though, the only way to learn anything meaningful about your case is to talk with an American at your embassy, as difficult as that might be to achieve.

I called DOS last week and was told my case was updated on Oct. 6 I called back that afternoon and told them I forgot what I was told about the update on the 6th (they told me nothing) she said there is no update on the 6th but on Sept. 26 the senator inquired about your case but nothing on the 6th. I called back today again inquiring about the update on the 6th she didnt tell me if it was on the 6th but she said your husbands parents names were requested but dont worry the information has already been supplied to them they have it now it makes you wonder if they just give random answers to get you off the phone however if I dont use the words AP I get more info out of them my pretending I know something I dont. LOL I am playing them but maybe they are playing me

hmm thats interesting... i said I heard the last update to my case was sep 2, then he said who ever told u that was wrong..

why cant they be honest?? thanks for ur response.. i was not aware they will even tell u that "parents names were requested" hmm that was nice of them to tell u that, hopefully its the truth

lets keep each other posted as to what types of info DOS gives us...

Hyd when I would call I would get nice ladies.... One lady told me that give them 2 more weeks and she was sure that my hubby would get his visa. Course at the time I didn't believe nothing she told me But then within those 2 weeks he did!!! So you see I think if you get a nice one and you play on that niceness you might get some information!! Hopefully some Encouraging news.... Come ON AP be over!!!!!!!!!!!

thanks nita and urs was done in 2 weeks!!

i hope mine is done within the 30 days now as chris told me from DOS, that he said im in my last 30 days...

I called DOS again today.......Well Just for the record the more I thought about them asking for my husbands parents names the more it didn't make sense. So today I called and asked for them to verify that the name request had been received she put me on hold for a long time she come back and said what is your question again I told her she was confused she said I dont see anything like that I asked her when the last update was and she said when the senator inquired in september so I am back to square one she did add it shouldnt be much longer and I asked her why and she replied because you have been her AP since July LOL we know that means nothing sorry that I have nothing more favorable to add LOL now I sound like the Embassy

When I ask if there are updates they always tell me about the updates I already know about such as Senator inquiries, phone number changes, things like that. If I ask if there are any updates on the progress of our security clearance, they always tell me there's no way for them to see that. Sometimes I think they make up this ####### just to get us off the phone. I've also asked the embassy if they can see any updates on the progress of our security checks and they told me "we are not privy to that information, we can only see if the checks are incomplete or complete." And so we wait...
