I would never do any of that ####### for my MIL. She's a nutcase and hates me anyways so no need to waste my energy trying to be nice.

I had to come in and read what you had to say about this  May I suggest you pay attention to #4 and buy her a nice gift from Amazon :P

I plan to give her the therapist in a box for xmas

Oh thanks for the idea, and perhaps fill the stocking with prozac. :D

Donne moi une poptart!

Move 1000's of miles away :-D Seriously, she's a nice lady and all but we have NOTHING in common. And she's very annoying, my husband can't talk to her for 5 minutes without yelling.

Nanz, hope your MIL is awesome!

What crock.....

My MIL expected I will be this timid girl filled with gratitude for being in the US..... She assumes a lot of things, that we share political views, that we share parenting methods, that I am going to let her contradict me in front of my stepson and so on.......

When she realized I have no such intentions she started acting like a victim, stopped coming over completely and attempted to tell her son/ my husband what he should or shouldn't let me do..... like I'm a dog to be trained......

so no, I won't be doing any of that stuff on the list....

Naturalized! Yeah!

MIL's playing victims has got to be the most annoying thing, especially when their sons fall for it.

i agree. fil's do it too. i felt pretty annoyed at my fil (never had a mil so he took on that role too), then he suddenly died and it changed everything.

as i said before, make the most of them whilst you can because you never know when they will be gone. they brought up your partner for all these years so they must have done something right.

phil and nanz,

just dropping by and saw this post...

im also filipina...my mother-in-law never liked filipinas because my father-in-law traded her for one (actually, two, hehehe)...she told my husband, there are millions of women in LA and vegas, why would you want to marry a filipina (that was before we got married)....then, my sister-in-law told her, do you know that the woman you are insulting has better education than my brother and her family is rich back in PI....she thought all filipinas marry foreign nationals (particularly americans) to get out of poverty or go to the US....true for most but, not for all...so, it was a slap on her face when my sister-in-law defended me...though, my husband already told my mother-in-law to back off and warned her not to even attempt to ruin our marriage or she'll lose her only son...

now, she keeps telling my husband, she is soooooooo excited to meet me.....

my mom actually gave my husband a hard time, too, coz im the only child she got....i think in general, MILs are hard to please so, dont even try....or, try but dont push too hard....

my plan, i'll just pay attention to her action and the way she interacts with me with or without my husband around....i don't intend to make friends with her but if she offers and i feel it's sincere, it's fine with me but, i'll still be on guard...i suggest you do the same...

37 x :bonk:

Here is my story. I've lived problem free life, payed my taxes. One day I decided to marry this girl. But to do so would require her to come to US of A, and so it started. My problem free live turned in to free problems from USCIS! Sure things turned to unsure, certain dates turned to aproximation within months. All logical thinking was out the door, as I filed my papers withing famous Vermont Centre!
