I think we better hurry and add more recipes if we want it to be a cookbook. There's really not that much up there if you sift through everything (I have)

Ready, set, post your recipes!!!!!!!

make sure they are easy for me to follow. something like "defrost" "microwave" "stir" and so on. :innocent:

In that case, Charles, you'll be needing this cookbook instead

bridget, send me some of those pills!!!

omg that baby of urs is almost a year old !!! you will definitely be needin some of brig's pills soon lol :)

MrsAmera, how are ur little ones doing? I'm fairly sure that Mikhail was the first noted MENA baby boy in VJ. If I'm wrong, please correct me. I haven't seen an update in quite a while on them so I hope they are ok. Do u have some new pix of them?? enquiring eyeballs wanna seeee lol

ok, speaking of babies in MENA... can we compile a list of the babies and their birthdays all in one place so we can all remember?? ok.. so I can remember

So far, ppl interested in the MENA cookbook is at a total of 5 (not enough to cover costs of printing). Anyone else interested?

I must have missed the cookbook. What is in it and how much is it?

Well, here's what I'm wanting to do. My hubster does graphic design work and is needing some new things to put in his portfolio to show potential customers. I was sifting thru Sultan's Kitchen and saw so many great recipes but didn't wanna take my laptop downstairs and risk getting it messy in the kitchen...sooooooooooooooooo I thought, I'll just organize Sultan's Kitchen by meal, desert, soup, salad, etc and print it out. I also thought it would be cool to see different ways we all make the same meals so I'd print every recipe by every MENA'er that posted one in S.K. (if they are ok with me putting their VJ name on their recipe) So it would be like "amal's mansaf" "kelz' mansaf" "Jaxz mansaf"

sereias kefteh, rahmas kefteh, saras kefteh... does that make sense?

THEN I remembered hubster and how he needs stuff to fill his portfolio and thought..hmm I wonder if the girls in MENA would be interested too???

He has a minimum quantity of 100, I think, so the more ppl that are interested, the cheaper they will be. We would only charge what it costs to print and ship them.

I haven't gotten it all together yet but am currently working to get all the recipes copied down and sorted - with the kudos to the original poster and the date they submitted it.

If anybody does NOT want their recipe to be in the book or does NOT want their MENA name mentioned, please let me know and I will make the name "unknown"

Amal I thought Mikhail was the first too. Then I think Crazy in Egypt and LebaneseMama..Wasnt Mark and Salwa expecting?? so many babies..and so many people who have left the forums :(

I think you're right kelz. Were did our girls gooo :crying:

Don't wanna be debbie downer but just be careful if this recipe thing takes off (and fwiw I think it's an awesome idea and you could even have a section, if you publish it for real, with real stories about the recipe author's visa journey!!) you need to be uber careful of copyright law issues. For example, I know a few of my recipes are from Rachel Ray and some from Giada so you'd need to give credit to them somehow though you might not want to put those in since they're not really mena related other than being posted in a mena section of a visa message board. I'm not a lawyer and know very little about those laws but Rahma might be able to help out.

Husband just shop vacced the basement to get the creepy crawly spiders away and now he's cleaning the kitchen. Nothing, and I mean NOTHING more sexier than a man doing housework! <insert Barry White music here>

And you might want to go all out eventually by putting in a section for spices.

Copyright on recipes is pretty loose. If you directly took something and published the whole thing as is then that's copyright infringement. If you take the general idea it's different. Anywho it's probably best just to leave those directly quoted out.

Tuesday is half over, and I am home ealy with a sick kiddo....

Tina, I am so sorry about the email....I know it won't be much longer. They have already checked and re-checked. Not much left to check at this point I bet....

I will have to look through the Kitchen thread  get back to ya on the cook book.

Bridg, good luck with the surgery...I worked for doctors for years and it really is a quick and easy procedure with a fairly easy recovery. Take it easy, follow directions, and you will be good in no time.

Shawna, Usama was so excited to talk with Ahmed last night, he laughed about how happy your hubby was to get to talk Arabic LOL I told him, just wait...that will be you soon (ISA)

Hope everyone is having a good day...

Happy late afternoon MENA, safe travels if your heading home from work or picking up kids from school/daycare!

Amal - dont know you but interested in the cookbook. Hubby will be here ??????? need to learn cook something he may like & my taste buds could use a new flavor too

Oh yeah the MENA baby posting/thread/space would be great too - theres soo many babies on here who are really part of a LARGE community & no doubt there's more to come.

Been home sick all day, hubby sick in North Africa all weekend - iiiccckkk!

As a side not, its really nice to stop by this daily thread and read all the positive messages. I go through various forums and some are just not as pleasant as this one.

Take care all! (F)
