Hmmmmnnnn I've been here in US for one month and 12 days pa lang, recently married last Oct.18...i dont have problem adjusting with the foods coz my hubby let me cook rice always and go to Filipino Store in ForthWorth,in terms of being together,we get along very well and he knews na the 'raising of eyebrows and being quiet mood"ahahaha! But aside from that like everybody else in here nakakamiss ang Pinas but since there's an internet access, its lessen.I knew how to drive na, my experience driving in Pinas helped me build my confidence to drive here and i am aggressive to drive really here coz i knew how, but he is afraid as of now.Lolz..But sometimes he let me drive where theres no car park and no people..Geezzzzz...We attend Catholic Mass already here in our area in Granbury Texas.Anyways Hope to see some FilAm couples who live near me in Granbury Texas :

Hi, We actually live in Plano,Tx but we are currently overseas right now.. Dont know how far is grandbury to Plano. But hope to get with some FILIPINAS in texas

i've been here in the us for 4 months and 3 days and i must say that to date, it's the happiest 4 months and 3 days of my life!

i guess my situation is kinda different compared to the other who've posted so far.

i'm married to a pinoy. although he was born here in ca, his values are still very much pinoy. traditional pinoy, to be exact: always defers to the elderly, follows family tradition, etc. etc. and yes, he's pretty shy in showing his affection in public! (he blushes when i kiss and hug him during family gatherings! ..more than enough reason to do it often! ha ha ha). i, on the other hand, am his exact opposite. i was born/grew up in manila. i'm highly independent, liberal-minded, very outspoken and very impatient. it was only recently when i realized that i'm more cosmopolitan than my husband! but in a weird way, i find it highly endearing.

we do have 4 things in common: we love each other other a lot lot lot, we don't mind splurging on the things we love, we're both very stubborn and yes, we're both brats (parehong bunso!). to say that our marriage is pretty interesting is an understatement. my best friend once queried, "nag-away na ba kayo?"... the answer is a resounding, "of course!." the good thing is, we always reach a compromise before a day lapses. and yes, i do take note of the things he doesn't like and i know that the hubby's trying his utmost to reign in his temper!

aside from my mom, i really don't miss manila all that much. i guess it's mostly because most of my friends and relatives (those i love) are reachable thanks to the world wide web. on second thoughts, i do miss manila's night life! i guess we need to relocate to a bigger city to have that. funny enough, i'm only missing going to bars now coz i've thinking hard about the things i'm suppose to miss.

i definitely miss driving. since the ssa has yet to issue my ss number, i've yet to secure a driver's license. since my hubby follows the regulations to the letter, he won't even allow me to park the car in our garage! grrrr..... i miss my car terribly... it was my home for so many years! ha ha ha

i'm learning to cook now and yes, i take offense when the hubby says something's wrong with the dish! i remind him during those times that he's welcome to do the cooking instead.

i miss third-world living coz i sooo hate doing the laundry, folding the clothes and washing the dishes. as soon as i get a job, i'll ask someone to do it for me! (in my dreams i can actually afford to pay one!) ha ha ha. and yes, speaking of work, i'm excited yet scared to join the workforce. i'm thankful though that i know my priorities. now, my family's my first consideration. the job is just that, a means to earn money for spending. i'm no longer interested in pursuing a career.

but yes, I LOVE LIVING IN THE US! i can't wait to try new things (aside from checking out the grocery by yourself and renting dvds on machines), meet new people (the people here are so friendly yet at the same time, they do respect personal space!), find new friends, etc etc. most of all, i love doing/having all of those with the love of my life witnessing everything with love and pride.
