Me too I'm not encouraging anyone to lie, I was just repeating what other people on the site have said. Luckily I'm not in that position as I have never tried drugs, though anyone that has, has to seriously think about what they are going to say.

Say you tried drugs once when you were young. I think the general feeling is, if there is no proof you have taken drugs in the past, any convictions or anything, don't mention it at the medical.

Actually if you read the above, it's Laura+Tom that made mention of one piece of my response, as bolded. Don't mention it is well and fine, but during your medical as I said earlier, you will be asked by the Dr. if you've EVER used non-prescription drugs. So, "not mentioning" it is what?

I didn't quote you either Guily and Rocky, and your response is a little over zealous. I'm from Canada, where they've had studies done to show TONS of teenagers experiment with drugs. I know you did not say everyone. I think it's important however, not to minimize drug use by suggesting that LOTS of teens do it.

At some point, I'd like to see that it isn't held against people, and doesn't deny people from a visa, particularly when it happened as experimental use, or the person used years ago and has made changes in their life.

See the part I bolded. Didn't say whether I agreed or not, though I admit I should have elaborated on that part. The reason I said it mainly stemmed from a particular thread where the general feeling was that the person should not mention it. But it's up to the beneficiary or not and they will have to accept any consequences.

I think we all wanted to help the OP and often times it's hard when we don't hear voice inflections or see body language to guage how something is being said. I too might have sounded like I was berating, and it truly was not my intention.

Drug use is really a difficult area around this whole visa process I think. Maybe people who have had issues like this in their life, can someday work towards changing the immigration process in this regard.

If the abortion was recent, the pregnancy hormone will still be present in the blood and will be detected during the labratory.

Also, she will be asked the date oh her last period and if she was pregnant - no period.... Any medical professional will be able to tell is he was recently pregnant and if the pregnancy was aborted.

The worst thing she can do is lie about the situation, Why risk a denial?
