Hey everyone- this is probably a really dumb question... but for the K1 medical exam blood tests, what do they all test and look for? My fiance is scared about his medical exam and I'm just trying to convince him that he'll be fine. I would just like to calm his nerves a little bit. Thanks!

So the blood test is ONLY for HIV? And then the chest x-ray is for tuberculosis. What else would they be testing him for?? urine test for drugs?

They take blood to test two things: VIH and another one that I dont remember. The x rays to check your lungs. And the doctor will check your eyes, your pressure, etc. A medical check up. Plus the vaccinations; if you have your vaccination record is perfect. If not, you should need to get some shots.

so will these blood tests also test for STDs? can they even get those results that fast?

I'm not asking because I think my fiance has any of these things... just so that I can tell him exactly what they are testing for.

Thank you

AS FAR AS I KNOW ITS INCLUDE STD TOO. BUT IF U THINK HE HAD, HE STILL HAVE TIME TO CURE IT WITH ANTIBIOTICS, HOPE IM RIGHT. DONT WORRY, JUST CURE EVERYTHING U SUSPECT FOR, SO WHEN THE MEDICAL EXAM COME HIS WILL BE FEELING OK THEN. GOOD LUCK.

As above, blood tests are used to determine whether you have any STD's, and HIV. Chest x-rays are for TB. Since June, skin tests are being used for TB testing, so I don't really know how much longer they're going to be requiring chest x-rays. As far as blood tests go, they don't do drug testing on your blood unless you've been sent there for specifically that reason. Case in point, someone who disclosed during their medical exam that they had used drugs in the past. The Dr. sent them for blood tests to determine if it was still in their system. However, whether it's in your system or not, if you've disclosed this to the Dr. during the medical, then you're going to be denied your visa, unless you can obtain a waiver.

well...I have a question now...I know i'll be positive to the TB skin test...my dad is, my brother is...I guess is genetic but I never have problems about it, I remember when I was little they used to do thsi test at school so, since I was positive they also made me Xray chest but everything was fine...so...what is going to happened when I'll be positive at the medical exam? Are they going to deny me? OOr just make me further tests? Thank you!

As far as i know not everywhere does the skin test. I think this is done in countries where the risk of TB is high. I think in the UK you only have the X-ray.

Do you have an article on the drug use of the past at all? Someone I know is trying to obtain the K1 visa and her fiance is a drug user. He said he will stop taking them enough to pass the medical. I say they will know or find out if he does not stop at all .

BUT my question is this. there are people out there that used drugs during teen years and stopped. So why would thye deny you something IF you are clean and that is a past thing??

Who knows? I think young people make a lot of mistakes and I think a lot of teen try drugs...Not saying I agree with it but its a reality...They should make a difference between the person who has a drug adiction and a person that just tryed it...But you know, they make the rules...only thing I can say its that they can't pretend for people to be honest about it...if u know they will deny your visa if u admit u even just try drug for one time...are u going to tell the truth?
