You should start looking for a co-sponsor, and have them also complete an affidavit of support for you, just in case your spouse doesn't find a job between now and then.

divorced - April 2010 moved back to Ontario May 2010 and surrendered green card

PLEASE DO NOT PRIVATE MESSAGE ME OR EMAIL ME. I HAVE NO IDEA ABOUT CURRENT US IMMIGRATION PROCEDURES!!!!!

My spouse is my primary I-864 sponsor, and she was laid off last week. My I-485 AOS interview is in 30 days. Should I tell the interviewer that my spouse was laid off? What complications to my case might arise from this?

We were asked separately what kind of work we did, but there was no effort to document that. Probably, therefore, telling about the layoff (it's so common in the U.S. now, and will only get worse) will not hurt so long as the sponsor is making every effort to find a new job. That's my take on the USCIS -- and it must be happening hundreds of time every week across the U.S.

If asked, yes. If not asked, NO!!!

At this, or any, interview, you really don't want to offer any unsolicited information. It can only hurt your case. If asked, you want to be completely truthful. But if they don't ask, you don't tell.

In the mean time, I would look for a second sponsor and have that paperwork/taxes ready to hand to officer at interview if requested.

You don't have to tell..

If your wife has substantial assets, then you can use assets to qualify...read the "Section 29 total value of assets" in the I-864 instructions..that may help..

Also, show the newly updated I-864 form only if asked.....

I agree with kidbrklyn, don't offer any more info than what's asked... And be prepared to provide docs for a joint sponsor (signed form, as well as tax transcripts etc.). You will have a month to gather all the docs, so don't sweat!
