I suppose I am just getting overly anxious and I'm not sure of what happens from this point. Up until this point I have been the main person to fill out paperwork and get it mailed in and have paid the fees etc.... our AOS was approved with no RFE- I overnighted the DS-230's for my husband and 2 stepchildren-- those are in the hands of the people at NVC as we speak. All fees are paid etc. I just want to be able to give my husband the right information so he can manage things now from his end now. What information I need now- is the process from this point.... if I understand right- we wait for approval of the DS-230's--- how will I know if they are approved? How will I know when the interview is? How will I know when my husband and kids need to schedule their medical ? I'm really hoping this can be wrapped up before the end of the year. Might be pushing it- but I know the end is getting very near.

Any help is greatly appreciated--- we have had a fairly smooth journey thus far --- just too long of a wait - like everyone else here.

Get very familiar with the NVC phone number and use it frequently with a great deal of patience. The AVR is not always updated in a timely matter, so I would not rely on it. From what I've seen, DS-230's are processed approximately a week from receipt. Starting next Monday, start calling daily to find out if there were any RFE's issued or if the cases are complete. Again, don't rely on the AVR...speak to a live rep and be prepared to call several times to get through, then when you do, be prepared to wait on hold.

As far as interviews, NVC has finished October's round of scheduling. Assuming there are no RFE's (or that any are resolved asap), the cases should be completed in time for November's round. I believe Montreal is one of the last consulates scheduled, so you probably don't need to start calling until the second week to see if you've been given a date. Once you are told that you have an interview date you can book the medical exams. Keep in mind though that you will need to take an appointment notice for each applicant to the exam, so if you schedule it right away like I did, be sure it is far enough out to allow the appointment letters to come in. You will probably receive a copy in the US before they recieve their copies in Canada, but even if you do get it first you can fax or scan/email the letters to them so they have them for the medical.

Thanks so much CHD for your reply. You told me exactly what I needed to know. I'm so happy to know that I can fax the appointment letters to my hubby-- mail to Canada seems soooo slow. I know I've been worrying about NVC mail getting to them in time.

I would so love for them to be home by Christmas..... :)

Thanks again- and best wishes to you !!!
