Seems like I am back in the holding pattern. Applied for citizenship in Sept 2006, and after 2 years of wait and background check, finally got my interview notice. I had applied based on 5 years as LPR status, which I received thru marraige to a US citizen in 2001. We married in 1999 got divorced in Aug 2003 after 4 years of marraige. I knew my first wife 5 years prior to marriage since we we were in college. In Dec 2003 I married to my current wife who is also a USC but since I was on a 10 year GC it didn't effect me one way or the other. To cut the long story short, the interview last week started off very good. I aced the English and civic test, went to college in US so that wan't a big deal. The rest of the way IO was asking questions based on my application and she got stuck on two places. Selective Service and previous marraige. I told her that I did not know about the SS requirement and it was my understanding that I was not required to register once I put the dates together at the time of N400 submission (my age was 32 at the time of N400 filing). I was a student who upcon completion of studies married a USC and stayed in AOS during the ages of 25-26 and received LPR status at age 27. She kept going back on forth on my file sifting papers. I had applied for a letter of verification from SS but didn't have a resply back in time for the interview. She asked a lot of questions about my previous marraige as how we got married and why it ended. I was not asked to bring any documentation on my previous marraige let alone current one, since I applied based on 5 years LPR. She didn't even asked me for the last 5 years of my tax returns which I had on me. She then made me sign the application, oath, and 2 pics. She gave me a N652 stating that I passed Eng and Civic test but she could not make a decision on my application. All the boxes under that were also checked (if you receive a notice for interview show up, if more eveidence is req provide it, if you are scheduled for oath show up, if I change address let USCIS know etc ect). She told me she needed to go through my file in detail. I am not sure if it was a bull answer or if she meant it exactly.

So what happens now? I am just tired of this never ending excrutiating cycle. Any idea what's going on?

I received a N-652 last week, due to some mysterious extra file?? So the interviewer had to request it from the central holding bin in Nebraska. he had no clue how long it would take, and no clue what this file was. 99.9% of the time its nothing. At the very bottom of the N-652 it more or less states they have up to 120 days before u hear from them. Hopefully it doesn't take that long

Canadians Visiting the USA while undergoing the visa process, my free advice:

1) Always tell the TRUTH. never lie to the POE officer

2) Be confident in ur replies

3) keep ur response short and to the point, don't tell ur life story!!

4) look the POE officer in the eye when speaking to them. They are looking for people lieing and have been trained to find them!

5) Pack light! No job resumes with you

6) Bring ties to Canada (letter from employer when ur expected back at work, lease, etc etc)

7) Always be polite, being rude isn't going to get ya anywhere, and could make things worse!!

8) Have a plan in case u do get denied (be polite) It wont harm ur visa application if ur denied, that is if ur polite and didn't lie! Refer to #1

As far as I remember, you should provide divorce decree for all previous marriage even though you are filing based on 5 years condition.

You can get it from the court house where you filed for the divorce.

The court document (certified) was attached as per requirement.

So did anyon else had similar issue? How long after initial interview and N652 with 'decision delayed' was the oath notice sent? The IO told me that if I don't hear anything back within 90 days I should make an infopass appointment, so should I not be expecting anything within a couple of weeks?

My interviewer gave me no time frame, he stated he didnt have a clue. Just to expect another letter.
