Hi to Everyone:)

So we decided to try to bring my Mom for winter 2 week holidays..she is a teacher and has a very good stable job in Moscow that can provide guaranteed papers that she would be back, aslo she owns a flat and has some cash,so i think we do have a chance.

My question is,is there any type of visitors visa?Or what kind of visa are we supposed to apply for?

She should apply for a tourist visa. As long as she can prove significant ties back to her country like you listed it should not be a problem. I hope you are successful. It is probably a good idea to write a letter to the U.S. embassy requesting she be granted a tourist visa for the time she has available.

There is only one type of visitor visa ... B2

YMMV

hi!

she should apply for B2 visa! you or husband (if you are not a citizen yet) need to write an invitation letter for her, there is no special form for an invitation letter in the usa, so you just need to write that your mom will be staying at your house, her passport number! My husband wrote an invitation for my parents and sister, they came to america for our wedding this summer.

good luck! :star:

You can include an invitation letter but it does not improve ones chance.... presumption of immigrant intent is the big hurdle....

I didn't provide an invitation letter, I filled out the DS-156K or whatever it was for my SIL and sent it to her. Basically, all she had to do was sign it and send it in. To this day I think it helped because basically it was us "inviting" her and her applying. Of course, it's not a science, but if I was a wagering man......

Yes w did that form here in Usa too..so hopefully it doesthe trick!thanks!

At first glance I thought you were doing the paperwork in the Russian town of "oo-sa".... then I realized you've been here for a while and just sent it from the U.S.

I've been on VJ too long! I'm actually starting to read anything semi-English with Russian sounding words. I've caught myself several times recently asking people, "Shto, shto?" And then quickly remembered they have no clue what I'm talking about. Probably better that they don't, I've now transformed most of my pain-induced curse-filled rants in Pa-Russky. If my mom heard me yell those things in English I don't know if I'd ever be invited to Christmas dinner again.
