I'm going to be taking my son in to get his U.S. passport after the oath ceremony on the 23rd. From the time that we apply for his passport until our trip to Canada which is December 17th, there will be almost 8 weeks in between. Do you think it's safe just to get regular service on the passport rather than the expedite? I'm reading turnaround time of 3 weeks. Do I trust it?

If it was me I would still go with the expidited service so that I got my certificate of Citizenship back in my hands as quickly as possible.

i didn't apply for the expedited service, and actually got my passport in 10 days (applied on a wednesday and got it the following week friday). if you want to be safe of course go for the expedited service. the certificate of naturalization came in the mail 2 days later.
