Hello, I'm just wondering if a joint sponsor has to be related to a petitioner? What if our joint sponsor lives in California and the petitioner lives in Arizona? As I understood, a joint sponsor must be dominiciled in USA or its territories. Is it really matter if our joint sponsor lives in different states? Does the immigration will accept it? Thanks a lot.

No, it makes no difference so long as the joint sponsor is a citizen or legal permanent resident of the U.S.

It does not matter if sponsor lives in a different state, and does not have to be a relative.

Thank you very much for the information...I just called USCIS early today and they told me the same...I'm very relieved by now...and I'm hoping that things will go smoothly...Thanks a lot again ...
