Vaccination questions for interview

My husband had his medical done in London in June of last year (2005). He didn't receive ANY paperwork from the medical ( except a receipt for the vaccinations ). Now, the AOS interview is July 26, 2006 and we are wondering:

1) How will the civil surgeon's office know which injections he will need for I-693 A?

2) Are WE supposed to bring the blank form ( I-693A) to the civil surgeons office?

3) Will he need another medical, since the medical done in England was within 1 year of us "filing" for AOS/EAD? I think the answer is "no" but am still being cautious.

We have searched the FAQ'S , Guides, and the USCIS website but are still unclear. Any help/advice is appreciated!

Thanks,

Karen

1) some people have a vaccination worksheet they got overseas.

2) the civil surgeon should have it

3)

Are all adjustment of status applicants required to have a medical examination?

Most applicants for adjustment of status are required to have a medical examination. The medical examination must be conducted by a civil surgeon who has been designated by the USCIS. The examination must be documented using Form I-693, Medical Examination of Aliens Seeking Adjustment of Status.

EXCEPTIONS:

2. Ks: If you were admitted to the United States as a fiance(e) (K-1), child of a fiance(e) (K-2), Spouse of a U.S. citizen (K-3), or child of K-3 (K-4), and received a medical examination prior to admission, then you do not require another medical examination as long as your application for adjustment of status (Form I-485) is filed within one year of your overseas medical examination. You will, however, be required to submit a vaccination supplement with our adjustment of status application. The vaccination supplement must be completed by a designated civil surgeon.

Hey Karen. You also are going through Memphis are you not? I sent you a message about a week ago, I hope you recieved it. I too am going through memphis. We have our interview on June 23. As for the medical, i just printed the I-693A form off here and took it with me to the doctor (though I'm sure he has the form himself). I believe you do not have to have a medical retaken regarding your situation. All that should take place is having is vaccinations put on the I-693A form from the civil surgeon.

oops sorry, your interview in july, not june but good luck :) on your interview that is ...

Hi all,

My fiancee is here on a K1 Visa. I just returned from the civil surgeon's office with the I-693A, and here is what the doctor wrote:

DT/DTP - Not age appropriate

Td - Not applicable

Polio - Not age appropriate

Measles (or MR or MMR) - Not applicable

Mumps (or MMR) - Not applicable

Rubella (or MR or MMR) - Not applicable

Hib - Not age appropriate

Hepatitis B - Not applicable

Varicella - Not applicable

Pneumococcal - Not age appropriate

Influenza - Not fall/winter (flu) season

Bottom line was that the civil surgeon said that the "Not applicable" vaccinations weren't required, but then he checked the box at the bottom of the I-693A that says "Applicant does not meet immunization requirements." Does anyone know if these vaccinations are required by the USCIS or not? This is really confusing. My fiancee received her medical and vaccinations in her country as a condition to receive the K1 visa. Immigration took her package and all her documents at the POE, so we have no papers that prove her vaccinations or medical exam. What a messed up system!

Thanks,

-Tom

I checked my husband's supplemental. He was revaccinated for Td, Measles, Mumps, and Rubella because he didn't have record from his medical either. The CS noted that my husband had varicella as a child and then checked not appropriate age for everything else. Under results, he checked "Applicant may be leigible for blanket waiver(s) as indicated above.

Not sure what to tell you. As far as I was aware, Tetanus (Td), MMR, and varicella are required.

Hey CanGal!

Did your doctor put the I-693A in a sealed envelope for you?

Thanks,

Tom
