Vermont have updated their I-129F processing dates to six months.

From the page:

'The table shown below is intended to be a tool for customers to view our processing times. When applications and petitions are completed within our target timeframes, those timeframes will be shown (example: 3 months). If we are not meeting our target timeframes a date will be shown (example: April 16, 2008).'

According to that and the table they say they are meeting their target deadlines. Hmmm, not sure how much I believe that.

Means, apparently it will take six months from NOA1 to NOA2. Personally I don't believe it as they are implying they are on track with processing. Tell that to people who filed in Jan/Feb/Mar and haven't been approved yet.

It would mean that they are:

1) Processing applications submitted 6 months ago (April 2008)

2) Consider themselves on-time in processing these applications

Am I understanding that correctly?

1. If this applied then they would have a date instead of the six months.

2. That's what I interpret it as. As it's said on the site 'When applications and petitions are completed within our target timeframes, those timeframes will be shown (example: 3 months). If we are not meeting our target timeframes a date will be shown (example: April 16, 2008).'

The processing dates shown below represent the receipt dates of petitions and applications currently being processed by the USCIS Service Center.

They would put a date if that date were beyond their current processing time (6 Months). So any applications sent April 2008 onward would not be listed as a date because they fall within the current 6 month processing time.

If the receipt date shown on your receipt notice is prior to the processing date shown below, you may call USCIS Customer Service at 1-800-375-5283.

Anyone who has sent a petition prior to April 2008 would now be out of the processing time window and, according to USCIS website, is encouraged to call to check their status.

What a pile of #######. When the queue of petitions gets too long, they change the timeline to reflect a longer period - so they are once again "meeting guidelines". How frustrating. Sorry - had to vent.

I think they are trying to cover their a$$'s.

Absolutely. I have been in touch with my Congressman's immigration staffer. She tells me that VSC recently had a large budget increase that was supposed to facilitate "staffing up" to fix this backlog. The immediate response was that now all the new-hires needed training, so there would be no appreciable increase in processing for maybe six months. That was six months ago or more - and processing is slower now than before. The latest excuse I heard was transfer of files from one processing center to another, and the priority of emergency processing for Iraqi and Afghani visas.

Yeah. It's just one excuse after another. I'm in the frame of mind where whenever I'm approved, I'm approved. I know we only just filed but I'm preparing myself for the worst.

I just had a call back from the staffer I mentioned before. She says that 17,000 cases were sent to CSC from VSC, and that the new directive is that anything pending over six months will be pulled and processed.
