Right on time we received our NOA2! June 6-Oct 10...

A) First question: It says the approval notice is valid for 6 months. Does this refer to the time we have our interview date in Juarez and enter the US? or does the six months refer to the time in which NVC will schedule the interview?

B) Can anyone who applied for a Mexican Fiance tell me just about how long it takes to send the notice of the interview date to my fiances home in Mexico? They say the processing time is 2-4 weeks, within that timeline will my fiance receive her interview date?

C) Once my fiance receives her interview date, how much lead time do they generally give before the interview in Juarez?

D) Last (just to make 150% sure I understand all the instructions) So my fiance will get a packet with all the forms she needs to fill out and her interview date...correct? I will receive nothing, I just send her all the originals, (or take them there personally prior to the interview)?

thanks to whoever can reply to this, also any personal tips for the Juarez Consulate visit and places to stay, close by and not too expensive,

thanks so much!

Marko

One thing- for the K1 viasa through Ciudad Juarez, the Mexican fiance does not receive an appointment. They have an open appointment, meaning they go when it's convenient for them. I do believe, however, it must we within the time period that the NOA2 says it'd valid for. So really- once she receieves the packet and has everything ready to go, she may go.

You should check out the Juarez Consulate thread in the Foreign Embassy section- I think it will be helpful to you.

As Caity mentioned, you really need to dig into this thread for questions concerning Juarez:

http://www.visajourney.com/forums/index.ph...896&st=2565

A. The entry visa is good for 6 months, but only for one entry.

B. The Mexican SO will probably never see the embassy packet.

Mine has yet to receive it. However, I received my copy on Sept. 10th

C. Once the embassy package is mailed out, you have four months to

pick an interview date. You decide what date and just show up.

D. As mentioned before, your SO will likely receive nothing. Blame it

on the Mexican mail system. However, if you want a head start, the

documents are on the Juarez embassy website. And there is a link it

to it somewhere on the Juarez thread linked above.

Reading the Juarez thread was my single best source of information. I was with my SO two weeks ago when she got her visa.

I have had a different experience than those on the Juarez Thread.

Our approved petition was mailed from the NVC to the Juarez Consulate on Sept. 24, 2008. I called the Consulate on Oct. 3rd and was told our petition was received on Sept. 25 and that the invitation letter and Packet 3 documents would not be mailed to us for another 2-3 MONTHS....yes months not weeks. No explaination was given for the long lead time to ship the packet. When I asked whether the packet would be sent to me, my fiance or both, they said that the documents would be sent to my attorney in the US and not my fiance or me.........we will see what happens.

I have also been checking VJ on the average times for CDJ to send the invitation letter and it appears to be no more than 4 weeks for all 2008 entries so I am not certain why they told me 2-3 months. However, it has already been 25 days and we have not received the invitation letter yet. I am hopeful that something has not changed at CDJ recently and that we will be getting our invitation letter soon.

Good luck!!!!

I would be interested if anyone else has been given similar comments regarding the lead times for the invitation letter and packet from CDJ.

Visahopeful- It's very possible that they only TOLD you it would take 2-3 months because if they tell you it may take 4 weeks to receive, then they KNOW you will be calling back frustrated in 4 weeks if you haven't gotten it. I got Packet 3 (I'm the USC) about a month after it arrived at the consulate. My fiance (Mexican) actually DID get his Packet 3 about 2 or 3 weeks after I got it (which is reallly impressive, because mail I have sent him NEVER makes it to his house)

So... I'd look out for it in the mail- it may be coming sooner than expected (hopefully!)

Marko- I think they move posts when they feel that it would fit more appropriately in a different forum :) So it was just moved to a different forum, that's all! (It's now under K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress Reports)

No- once you get packet 3 and the "invitation letter," the Mexican fiance may go to the interview as soon as he/she wants, if you are applying for a K1 visa. As soon as you have all the documents and everything ready, you can go to Ciudad Juarez.
