Hi, After a while searching aeroflots website, and browsing the internet, I cannot find the answer to how and if I can change a flight date with aeroflot, and if I can't what they charge if I cancel. The flight is for LAX to SVO.

I tried to call of course, they are not helpful, and I wouldn't trust the answer they would give anyway.

Anyone here with experience doing this with Aeroflop?

K1 Visa Process long ago and far away...

02/09/06 - NOA1 date

06/01/07 - Green card arrived in mail

Removing Conditions

03/02/09 - Mailed I-751 package (CSC)

03/06/09 - Check cashed

03/10/09 - Recieved Olga's NOA1

03/28/09 - Olga did biometrics

05/11/09 - Anya recieved NOA1 (took a call to USCIS to take care of it, oddly, they were helpful)

I called the "New York number" last time I dealt with them and they were able to clear up my issue. (Something about payment/pick-up.)

Unsure what it was... google that stuff and you should have it.

I've always gone to the Los Angeles office in person because even though they work in America their customer service attitude is still Soviet Russia. In person you can get more info but still have to ask detailed specific questions because they will not volunteer any helpful info.

Usually the tickets you buy on the internet are NOT refundable or exchangable if they were on sale or part of a special promotion. Tickets that were regular price are sometimes exchangable for a hefty fee (I've no idea what they charge now) but to get a true flex ticket you have to request it at time of sale and it will cost extra.

It depends ona price of a ticket normally with them..even in Moscow more expensive it is more options yo have for exchange and open dates...and they also have a ticket non-refundable that is the cheapest option...

Avoid AF if at all possible.

Last time I went to Russia, I went on Delta. Didn't have any problems. Got two tickets for 100,000 miles.

Time before that, I went on Aeroflot, but only because they had a non-stop flight from Seattle to Moscow. Didn't have any problems. I can't remember how much I paid for that ticket - but I think it was $1000 or so.

Time before THAT, I went on British Airways. Cost me 70,000 miles for one ticket! But didn't have any problems.

I'd avoid trying to deal with them on the phone though. I'd go to the airport and talk to whomever is at the desk.

Good luck!

PEOPLE: READ THE APPLICATION FORM INSTRUCTIONS!!!! They have a lot of good information in them! Most of the questions I see on VJ are clearly addressed by the form instructions. Give them a read!! If you are unable to understand the form instructions, I highly recommend hiring someone who does to help you with the process. Our process, from K-1 to Citizenship and U.S. Passport is completed. Good luck with your process.

YMMV

Through lots of experience (today I return to Novosibirsk for the 18th time) I've learned to avoid Delta and that Aeroflot actually does give quite good service. The guys to totally completely avoid, if you're the Russian travelling alone, is FinnAir, though.

Responsive to OP query, I have had to change Aeroflot tickets before, but only when I was in Novosibirsk and needed to delay the return. (In those days, it was hard to predict when my colleagues in NSK would finish a task.)

Changing the ticket was a hassle but by Russian standards not a huge one. I had to go to the Aeroflot office in the city. I paid a penalty (roughly $100). I had to have cash -- rubles. Credit cards didn't work (then, but they might today and, given the credit crisis, might not work next month).

One time I was amused when some Brit, trying to win a Ugly American award, came into the Aeroflot office and refused to believe the fact that he couldn't use his Visa card as payment to change a ticket. His Russian was close to non-existent, so he just kept asking in English, each time more slowly and loudly.

Aeroflot now does ticketless travel on the LAX-SVO run, just like a real airline. You may well be able to transact it over the phone. I've found the LAX office more helpful than the NY office.

YMMV -- Its Russia.

What's wrong with FinnAir? I've flown it twice, no problems.
