Well I've been in the US for just over a week now and we're already married!

So the next stage is to apply for Adjustment of Status, and I have the form I-485 right here, but it's asking me about my I-94 #. Now I'm confused, because the I-94 was the document that I filled out on the plane over here and which the US Customs official kept when they checked my visa, so how am I supposed to know what # to put on my form?

Yeah.. They want the number on the I-94... They should have given you a stub that was stapled into your passport. It says I-94A Departure Record.

Then they made an error... They should have placed an I-94 in your passport. If you didn't receive one, all you can do is say none and then explain on a seperate sheet of paper that an I-94 was not given to you by the CBP.

You need to file a I-102 to get a replacement I-94.

ok, I remember what happened now. When I got on the plane I was given two forms: one was the I-94 and the other was about bringing valuables into the country.

I did not complete the I-94 because it clearly states at the top that: "This form must be completed by all persons except US Citizens, returning resident aliens, aliens with immigrant visas, and Canadian Citizens visiting or in transit."

I have a K1 Visa, so I'm an alien with an immigrant visa, right?

Actually you have a non-immigrant visa. I am surprised the Immigrations officer didn't ask you to fill one out when he checked your paperwork.

Sorry that I'm here with other question, what did you do? Did you send the I-102 form and $160.00?

Yes, I sent that over two weeks ago and I've just received a Notice of Action on which it says that it usually takes between 3 and 6 months to complete the application process! :o

I'll be living on the streets in 3 months if I can't get my Social Security Number and Work Authorization (both of which depend on me having an I-94) so I'm contacting my state representatives to see if they can hurry it up a little.

What a pain in the ###.

Wow, you must have got to a half asleep immigration officier if you managed to get past him/her with a K1 and no I-94. Bad luck for you obviously, but the guy should be reprimanded for that.
