Shorter showers, lower thermostat, vigilant about turning off lights/electronics, buying more generic, making big meals to last the week so I don't eat out or buy frozen dinners, and eating less fresh food =( I basically don't buy anything unless I need it to live or get a job.

Peace to All creatures great and small............................................

But when we turn to the Hebrew literature, we do not find such jokes about the donkey. Rather the animal is known for its strength and its loyalty to its master (Genesis 49:14; Numbers 22:30).

One thing my engineering friends did plus myself was to take a year off work and build our own homes, in my case, had a very nice home paid off in two years. Helps to have a good wife that is working during that time. This is a form of independence and yes, would rather pay 20-30% of my income to the government than to pay 100% of it to some bank. But thinking about building a shack now the way property taxes are going. If I want to buy something, make payments to a savings account instead, get much better deals with cash and earn rather than pay interest. Of course, with that money in the bank, do I really want that thing or should I keep the money.

Did you chronicle it on a houseblog?

(I love reading about that kinda stuff....)

As for me, I save my dimes in a "Luxury Wafers with Chocolate Creme filling" tin.

Lady, people aren't chocolates. Do you know what they are mostly? Bastards. ####### coated bastards with ####### filling. But I don't find them half as annoying as I find naive bobble-headed optimists who walk around vomiting sunshine.

Yeah, I've never understood how wafers can be "luxury"... they were only $1 a tin, and I don't feel particularly wealthy or pampered by having them. Maybe the luxury is being able to save your dimes in the tin once you're done chowing down on the wafers.....

A few things I do are listed already. If I can find it at a yard sale vs. buying it new I don't mind it being 2nd hand. I do my own hair vs. a shop that will charge $60 or more. I do my own eyebrows.

Don't get my nails done every two weeks. :( Boy do I miss that. I try to use Sally Hansen to strengthen my nails. Don't go out clothes shopping like I use to. Cut back on my cell phone bill (about $22 a month). Look for sales. Buy in bulk if I can. Look at sales papers before I go to shop. Try to go in the store and not go wild with getting things I don't need.

Try to pack my lunch vs. going to the break machine at work. ie you buy a snack for $.85 five days a week= $4.25 thats $17 a week and $204 you save in a year not getting a snack (if im correct on that)..

I turn off my lights in the house and have the night lights that turn on when it gets dark. Air/heat depending on which one, will be on but on a setting where they will not cut on. Go for cheaper gas. Or like I went to visit my mom and they had shoes that were norm $20+ (each) but I got them on a 75% and an addt'l cut as well. So I got two pair for $4 total. Norm price I would have spent $40.00+ That's my kinda SALE! lol

I have been trying to save a lil at a time. Not easy....
