We're still not saving much to be honest! I guess we don't go out to eat very much...when we do we typically go to Little Caesar's pizza...$5 for a medium pizza and $1 for crazy bread!

I certainly don't go out clothes shopping as much these days. When we do we stick to Old Navy/H&M or go to consignment shops.

When it comes to buying things for the house (furniture, TV etc) I stick to craigslist and buy used stuff off of there.

My husband and I used to go to concerts more often...we have only been to a couple this year.

Of course we don't have a car...and therefore we don't spend $ on gas etc. We are lucky enough to live in Chicago where the public transport can get us where we need to go fairly easily.

The one thing I haven't really given up is participating in races...I feel that running has benefits that go far beyond looking good. The races I do give me motivation to continue to run. They usually cost $30 a pop and I do usually one every one to two months, but I guess we all have to have a guilty pleasure of some sort.

We have a budget. Not too many categories but a budget and we stick to it.

We have an amount we use daily for food and gas. Each day, we strive to come in under that amount -- and those few dollars are also saved.

I stopped eating.

Don't just open your mouth and prove yourself a fool....put it in writing.

It gets harder the more you know. Because the more you find out, the uglier everything seems.

One thing my engineering friends did plus myself was to take a year off work and build our own homes, in my case, had a very nice home paid off in two years. Helps to have a good wife that is working during that time. This is a form of independence and yes, would rather pay 20-30% of my income to the government than to pay 100% of it to some bank. But thinking about building a shack now the way property taxes are going. If I want to buy something, make payments to a savings account instead, get much better deals with cash and earn rather than pay interest. Of course, with that money in the bank, do I really want that thing or should I keep the money.

One thing for sure, the more ####### you buy, the more problems you have with it. One difficult thing to deal with are energy prices increasing by a factor of three over the last four years, can buy a vehicle that gets better mileage and restrict my driving, these are really not more fuel efficient, just smaller, people that use the word fuel efficient are idiots, sure have a bunch of those running around today. But really don't want to freeze to death in my home, and ironically the energy I use in my home is 99% domestic and doesn't have a damn thing to do with OPEC.

Man, are we getting screwed. One thing we all can do and will take many of us is to constantly yell and scream to our president and congressmen, that way, you can help the economy to pay someone to pluck your eyebrows.

Not buying as many clothes as I used too, do online shopping instead so I don't get tempted in the shops in town, it usually works out cheaper. Put more money in savings. Other than that I don't really do much else.
