Casablanca: confusion about dealing with both K3 and CR1

Good morning everyone, I hope you are having a great Sunday morning.

I am a K3 filer. My petitions (I-130 and 1-129F) have been recently approved at the same time. I just received a mail notice from the NVC stating that my K3 petition has been forwarded to Casa. I would like to learn from other VJ memebers who went thru similar situation.

How does Casa deal with this type of cases? do they follow processing both petitions and schedule two separate interviews (for I-130 & I-129F) or do they stop processsing one, merge the two petitions and schedule one interview for both?

Thank you for sharing your experience. I appreciate your input.

  • I-130 SENT 2-19
  • NOA1 RECEIVED 3-03
  • I-129F SENT 3-14
  • NOA1 RECEIVED 3-21
  • NOA2 RECEIVED 10-11
  • NVC CASE COMPLETE 11-21

well typically your k3 will go faster however sometimes if you push through nvc fast enough you can change your k3 interview to a cr1... i am not doing this.. we changed consulates and our k3 is in Casa but our cr1 is in Madrid.

I think others have had experience saw it a few months ago but geeez Casa is somthing else as far as getting things done. Good luck if you have any specific questions i'll try to help if i can

I am just guessing, to be able to change the K3 interview to the CR1 one, at least the CR1 processing should be complete at the NVC and forwarded to Casa. One has to hope for two things a faster NVC and a slow casa :) what's the efficient way to do requests: email will be enough or making calls?

Thanks Rajaa, wish you good luck with your cases. just curious, why CR1 is in Madrid and K3 is in Casa?

Thank you all for your advice

when we married and filed he was in Casablanca, he since has gotten a job and moved to Madrid you can change consulates with the CR1 but not the k3 plus we prefer getting away from that consulate as possible.... it just freaks me out a bit.

I didn't know that..so if you wanted to pursue the K3, then he'd have to go back to Morocco? Interesting...learn something new everyday. :P

I am

not sure exactly the rules.. I was married in Tunis but my husband lives in ALgeria and if we would have done the k3 he would have had to interview in Tunis. Since it was a cr1, we could interview in Algiers even though we married somewhere else. Weird rules apply with the k3. If we would have done the k1 , it would have been algiers.. Or the cr1 of course was in algiers.. But if we would have gone k3 somehow tunisia would have had to been the interviewing consulate. Algiers is very good with algerians . Tunis is unfortunately not real good with any one except Tunisians. I have seen Libyans and Algerians get rolled at that consulate. Having to get any papers out of Tunisia is a joke too. They require bribes just to do the simplest of copies or anything else. What should have cost me 2 dollas a copy cost me 40 a copy. Anyway, it obviously worked because my husband got his visa but for Christs sakes, they are awful to deal with ( tunisians) I would nt visit there again if you gave me a free ticket, free hotel and spending money it was so damn awful there.

Very interesting to know. The hardest part in this process is that information is not available in one place.

H.I.There, what you said about Tunis applies also to casa, you just hope you don't have a piece of paper missing otherwise you would have to spend a fortune to get it straightened out. The problem is that everyone interprets the law as they wish. there is nothing you can do about it unlss there is a law in place that deals with specific situations. I give you an example, My moroccan ID has the US address on it, I cannot get certain civil documents because I could not prove I live there !!!In regard to the law I am moroccan, but I am not entitled to receive what I ask for unless I give bribes right and left.

good luck to all of us.

Current status: K3 interview assigned in January. Meanwhile, still waiting for the cr1 case to be approved at the NVC.

Any chances, the same interview will be for both k3 and Cr1?

Anyone went thru similar experience?

Do you know if we need to schedule interviews with the doctors or just walk in? Do you handwrite the forms or type them online?

Thank you you for advice. Good luck to evryone
