Metta, I really dig your living room.

As for Ikea...I think it's great for funky lamps, funky storage, rugs, and household accessories.

Their furniture is made to be inexpensive, and sometimes (not always) that can mean cheap.

It's not the kind of furniture you'll expect to hand down to your children.

But if you want something that's inexpensive with great design, you can't go wrong.

We have several lamps, bookcases, and rugs from them.

As for assembling furniture, as others have said...you really have to be a visual person, and understand how furniture goes together.

From a couple standpoint, it can be a LOT of fun assembling furniture together. We built and installed a closet organizer system (not from Ikea)

in Ring Ring's walk in closet. It was a great time. We're looking forward to installing a hardwood floor in the bedroom over the winter.

Love is an interesting thing. It's magical. I really didn't know much about working around the house until I was motivated by Ring Ring.

Our house is 18 years old. Ring Ring wanted a more modern bathroom. We looked around at things she liked...and then she went back to Tokyo.

In 4 days...and by myself, I remodeled the entire bathroom (except pulling out the tub). I put in a new vanity, new sink, had to break open 2 walls to put in new electrical outlets, put in a new shower head system, painted the walls, put in a new floor, put in new molding, and installed a Toto Washlet.

In 4 days, by myself. The only help I had was a neighbor's wife drove their pickup to help me take the vanity home...but I loaded and unloaded it by myself.

I didn't know much about electricity or carpentry, and I'd never done any plumbing...but I was motivated by love....a powerful thing.

Rajaa, I know your passion will turn your humble home into a palace.

 Ling Ling you are crazy but in a good kind of way..... that''s great work you did for your love. I already started redecorating the front room i have a couple more items i need to get. One thing i do like about ikea is it's easy to bring things home :star: they seem to sell everything that can come in a flat box lol... I don't have a truck or a neighbor with one so flat boxes are good for me.
