Colin Powell is a distinguished Republican with a very strong record of service in our military and for Republican administrations. His endorsement today of Barack Obama was powerful, thoughtful, reflective. He made it clear that he held McCain in high regard personally and he a great deal of respect for his service. But he finds McCain unsteady and uncertain on the economy. He finds Palin unqualified to be President (although he says the other three are qualified).

This was a powerful, interesting, and for me quite unexpected endorsement.

So ... Powell's decision ... is now your decision? Does this mean you needed someone to follow?

Natty -- I'm not sure you get it, and maybe you strongly don't want to.

The Powell endorsement is huge. It is the strongest statement from the Center-Right of the political spectrum that one can imagine at this late date. It will make a difference among active and retired military -- and those voters are concentrated in Florida, Virginia, and the Carolinas. It probably won't push Obama over the top in South Carolina -- but it may help him get to the top in the other three states.

Now that you are working to read my mind ...

It was Powell's personal decision ... I have my decision to make ... and you have yours to make ... unless you need to follow someone else.

To the best of my knowledge, Colorado lets you vote one time each election. They seem to have lots of elections here. I always vote by mail. So, yes, I vote early, and often.

I absolutely fail to see the appeal of the ** party, so I don't get it. As a conservative, and not just a visitor to ultra right websites, I know the Republican base is not wing nuts.

I simply can't base my alligence in a party that fights for the right to kill babies in the womb, and considers anyone who is in opposition to that to be a wing nut. I can't follow them to turning this country into a branch of the EU, and the military into mush. I'm not willing to dumb down schools into propganda factories for global warming and gay marriage, and accept that I should not turn my ambition into prosperity that should not be forced from me. The ** vision is a utopia for some, but a hell for others.

Roe versus Wade infamous 5 to 4 decision was done under justices appointed by Richard M. Nixon, a republican I believe, and has been talked about ever since then with not a damned thing being done to reverse it. Was even told in church should vote republican for this exact reason, has it even occurred to you that it is remotely possible that the current breed of republicans are hypocrites? What about the 3/4 of a million people killed in Iraq?

Can you point out anywhere in our government where women are being forced to have abortions? Since my wife deals with young pregnant women can point out many organizations that help them to keep the child, if that is their choice. But, in many of the cases, was their choice to get pregnant in the first place. No one in my family or friends even, have ever had an abortion. I feel you are screwed up in your thinking.
