Question on Medical Test and Pregnancy for visa inteview

I am a US Citizen and my wife is a Canadian. We had our IR1 interview on October 1st in Montreal. As we got our Interview Letter really late from NVC we could not complete our Medical Test on time, so we went to the interview with a letter from Panel Physician stating that the Medical results are pending. The interview went well and now we have to mail the medical results to the embassy to obtain the visa.

My wife is pregnant and as per her OBGYN's advice she could not go for a Tuberculin Skin Test (TST) or chest X-ray considering the safety of the baby. Neither the Panel Physcians adviced her to go for it either. Instead they reported in the Medical Report as "that she did not have the chest x-ray done because she is pregnant and she will have to follow up with the immigration department after she delivers the baby".

Is this acceptable by the embassy to issue the visa Or will they have us wait till the baby is born and come back with the X-ray results. Has any one been in this situation? If so could you share your experience. Any thoughts or ideas would be greatly appreciated.

I had a friend in the same situation and they were told at the interview that: "Since the visa is not the last step in the imigration process, futher medical follow ups can be done at a later stage". As long as the Panel Physcian signed off on everything else you should be fine.

This was in Korea - a lot of these things differ by embassy.

i met a couple months ago, the wife was pregnant so her USC husband didnt allow her to have the xray for the safety of their baby. they did go for their interview and the consul told them to come back after she already has had her xray done. so they decided to wait till the baby is born and then they will go to for her xray. but hey, every consulate is different and it might be another story in your wife's country so maybe the consul will consider her situation . who knows?

hi,

--i actually had my medical last october 15,2008 and i am almost 5.5months pregnant....but i did an x-ray, i talked to them with regards to this matter i told them that i am pregnant i asked them if i am going to have tuberculine test or x-ray,(ofcourse i have to protect our baby...if i am going to have an x ray i need a proper shielding that protects my tummy, since i am a doctor i know what to do as well so i'll make sure they proper shield my tummy and the back portion of my tummy....well the shielding is quite heavy but its alright aslong as our baby is protected....

--the shield they are talking too is a LEAD content like a dress that protects u from radiation....

but it's up to u guys.....
