I'm sure he would- specially those that inflate what wasn't there in terms of background, beliefs, and false impressions of what issues mattered in a society to progress as a united, non-discriminatory nation. Then again we do have something called context and then it gets pretty easy to tell whom is whom.

Well the Depression was the final straw as far as Weimar Germany was concerned. Interestingly enough - extreme ideologies tend to flourish in economic down-turns. Even formerly liberal countries like Holland and the UK have been seeing worrying political gains by far right parties at national elections. 2 of Austria's Far Right parties received record votes in their recent election. We even saw it here to some degree after 9/11.

There's more to it of course - a sense of hopelessness after a period of political apathy, and the realisation that mainstream political parties aren't solving the problems (and of course, because its easier to blame people for the way things are).

One question for some of these people, where have you been the last 8 years??????? How can you not notice the people sleeping on the streets, the children at the shelters, do you just pretend it away. I unfortunately can't do that, you try telling someone that since they didn't come early to the doctors that now their cancer has spread, and now it is too late. As they are crying and telling you the reason they didn't come to the doctors sooner was they had no insurance. If that doesn't tear your heart out, than you need some serious help. Even one's with health insurance, you have to have approval for treatments, and believe me if it cost the HMO's a little extra money, guess who is not going to get treatment.

You'll get called simple minded and sentimental for that attitude. These people are poor because they are lazy. They don't help themselves because they are used to goverment handouts. These handouts need to stop, not be extended because these poor people will drag everyone down to their level if we don't put a stop to the entilements, and do so now!

Really, there's a huge HUGE difference between Hitler and Obama (or Bush). To attempt to make a parallel is not only ridiculous, but somewhat ignorant as well.

Think about the many factors that led to the complete desperation of the Germans after WWI and then think about the promises Hitler made. He did have an agenda, but if you know anything at all about Holocaust history, you'll also know that Eichmann and Goerring were really the ones with the agenda. Hitler didn't stop them, but the ideas weren't all his.

Note: this is not an attempt to say Hitler wasn't to blame. I just think it's grasping at straws to compare Hitler to our current candidates/leaders. And no, I don't think we can compare Bush to him, either.
