Hi. My mother-in-law is our joint sponser and she goes by her married name. She also has provided her birth certificate to meet the USC proof requirement for the I-864.

The question is will NVC have a problem due to the last name being different?

All I-864 indicated is:

If you are a joint sponsor, substitute sponsor, or the relative of an employment-based immigrant requiring an affidavit of support, proof of your citizenship status, U.S. national status or lawful permanent resident status.

For U.S. citizens or nationals, a copy of your birth certificate, passport, or certificate of naturalization or citizenship.

The Birth Cert should be fine.

OUR TIME LINE Please do a timeline it helps us all, thanks.

Is now a US Citizen immigration completed Jan 12, 2012.

Yes, but it shows her maiden name. She uses her married name now. I dont want an RFE because of that.
