Anyone have a problem with this?

My husband has been actively pursuing employment since he arrived in the U.S. (beginning of July). He had temporary work authorisation (flew into JFK for this reason only), and received his EAD a few weeks ago. He is authorised to work, and he has sought out employment to do just about anything.

Here is the issue. Many employers here look at a green card as a litmus test of employability. They don't seem to see the EAD as good enough proof of his ability to legally work.

Is anyone else going through this?

I've read a few posts complaining about the same thing. I personally think it's due to pure ignorance from the employers' side. Instead of saying that they don't trust or don't accep an Employment Authorization Document, they should pick up the phone or go online to find out what it is before making any kind of decision.

As for me, I am working now for almost 3 mos. - an exempt position- with only EAD in hand. I have not even applied for AOS yet. I think, this depends on the company that he applies for.

I got a job at a bank 3 weeks after I got my EAD, and they seemed to have no problems with the EAD after I told them that it can be renewed. . . I hope your husband finds a job soon.
