I have read on the embassy portion of vj that my man will need to have:

MMR

Tetanus

BCG

Now I have also read about several other vaccinations he would need for adjutment of status. What does he need for the K-1 visa? he is already freaked that it is going to cost him 400 Euro, so I am trying to help him save money by getting shots done by HIS doctor.

Anyone know exactly what he should have done BEFORE his medical exam?

Many thanks!!

If your fiance can get the vaccinations done by his own doctor, then that is good, because it costs less. His doctor should be able to provide him with a document that details what vaccinations he has had, and when he had them done. The doctor's signature and credentials should be on the document as well as his signature, to ensure authenticity. Your fiance can then provide this document to the doctor who will perform the consulate medical. Make sure that your fiance keeps a copy of the document for his own records.

This is what my (then) fiancee did.

Thanks-I told him about the MMR-Tetanus & BCG(whatever that is). I also read here that he will need a ton more for AOS. I told him he will need the "vaccination supplement" form when he files for AOS. I am going to make sure he gets everything he needs BEFORE his medical-trying to save money ya know?

I agree there, get him to get any injections he can at his doctors and if they do not provide a "vaccination history" ask for a letter to confirm what he has had, even paying for that it will be far far cheaper than having things done at the Medical

We had our tetanus shots done and the letters only cost us £13.00 each, I believe the injections at Knightsbridge are about £60.00 each, daylight robbery.

I don't know what the BCG is, (sounds like a booster you had in school at about 14 years old) but I do know that he needs Tetanus & Diptheria, not just Tetanus.

Irishgirl,

Here is a link to the list of vaccinations needed. If your fiance gets them done in Ireland, then no more are required in the USA.

irishgirl,

Doesn't need any for a K visa, since it's a non-immigrant visa. Just needs a DS-3025 filled out by the Panel Physician to document what he has had, what he hasn't had, and what can be waived as medically inappropriate.

But he will need everything on the list for adjustment of status, unless medically inappropriate, and it's often less expensive to take care of everything in the home country rather than wait until after arriving in the USA.

Hey Irish,

If done in Ireland, and they will cost nothing and it's one less thing to have to do here, once Mr. Irish is in the states. If they are done during AOS, you'll need medical insurance to cover them.

Just something to keep in mind.

Our circumstances are a bit different, as we are CR1 and I have only basic hospitalization-so I advised Mr. Bruce to get them done in Scotland rather than paying for them.

Rose,

You are correct, the answer is different for an immigrant visa - the vaccinations are required before an immigrant visa will be issued.

I will give him a list & he can take it to the doctor's. I know he just had a tetanus shot-but I am not sure about the others.

I would rather see him get what he can now-so it won't cost us later

Thanks guys

Just make sure he gets the DS-3025. You will need it for his AOS.

Is that the vaccination supplement form I have heard about?

Should I print a DS-3025 & send it to Gavin for his medical?

Thanks ;)

irishgirl,

DS-3025 is similar to the I-693 Vaccination Supplement that you read about. It contains the same information but in a different format.

The Panel Physician who performs the visa medical exam will have all of the necessary forms. What rebeccajo is recommending is that Gavin should ask the Panel Physician for a photocopy of the completed DS-3025 at his exam. Then later on, when he applies for adjustment of status, he can include the DS-3025 with his I-485 in lieu of the I-693 Vaccination Supplement. If all vaccinations are either complete or waived, the DS-3025 may be accepted as sufficient.
