I-485 & SSN

Hi All,

My wife and I applied for her social security number on Sept.30 ( she arrived in US on K-1 visa and we are in RI), but we haven't received it yet. Can we apply for her I-485 without the SSN?

You do not need a SSN to apply for AOS.

In the space where it asks for the SSN, just put "none".

Thanks raymaga. I assume the same goes for the I-765, that we don't need the SSN, when we bundle up with the I-485?

Hi drl.

Your SSN as well as temporary card, which is just a A4 size print out with your SSN on it, should have been available to you right when your application was approved at your local social security administration office.... I am sorry but I am not sure whether the AOS application can be filed without SSN.

If you need SSN to apply, you may want to try to visit your local office again with your SSN application approval receipt and obtain a temporary card.
