Answering RFE - Do I need a cover letter?

Hi guys, unfortunately we got a RFE.

No big deal, my mistake actually. They are asking for the W2 and 1099 etc that we forgot to send with the I-864.

We have it all in hand and ready to go, but my question is, besides the cover sheet - the actual RFE letter they request you to send back with your answer, did any of you add a cover letter? Or some sort of additional explanation regarding the additional info you are sending?

Any hints and/or help would be appreciated. Thanks!

Yep a 1040 is NOT a return without proof of the numbers on the 1040, that is (W2 and/or 1099), note you could have simply ordered a simple IRS transcript and sent that instead of the (1040/W2/1099).

No cover letter requiredm the RFE letter serves that function.

USCIS:

Mark both the envelope and the cover letter as to the nature of the submission. Example: ORIGINAL SUBMISSION - BRIEF FOR AN APPEAL - RESPONSE TO REQUEST FOR ADDITIONAL INFORMATION - etc.

Provide both the receipt notice number and the A-Number as an identifier, if they are available.

If the packet is being resubmitted in response to a REQUEST FOR ADDITIONAL EVIDENCE (RFE), please place the notice requesting the additional evidence/information on the top of the packet. Also, please use the special mailing envelope provided.
