sounds like you married into a family of real trash. hard to know what they will be like from ten thousand miles away, but now that you are here, the real truth is in the open. you have to leave the trash in the heap, and get the hell out. sorry to give the bad news, but your suffereing is not going to improve them. it will just make them worse. leave as soon as you can, and may God help you find a better situation, wherever that may be.

there would be a law against approving visas petitioned for by trash, if i was king.

If I was king, you'd be my court jester. I'd also have a kung fu monkey as a body guard.

actually, i am going as the court jester this halloween.

my brother called to invite me to his halloween bash this year, and asked me to get him an emperor's costume. i found a friend of a friend who knows a guy that has a shop that costumes actors in film production. the chinese are big on dynastic period dramas and comedies, so costumes are available in just about every film making area. a box or so of this stuff will be in the belly of a 767 by the 26th, so we are good to go.

i bought 3 sets of imperial robes in genuine bootleg silk and gold embroidery for my brother and my two boys, complete with ching style hats and funny wooden shoes, but bought the "imperial minister's" costume for me. my costume comes with a funny black hat that has silver bee's wings on the back that stick out the sides and wiggle up and down when i walk. it's a hoot and a half. if you watch the costume comedies on chinese telly, you will soon come to see that the imperial minister is always the comic relief. always the buffoon.

my wife has lots of period style dresses, so will be equipping my boy's girlfriends, as they are all the same size. she has bags of costume stuff in the closet at home that she puts on to go out dancing on saturday nights, but is really more appropriate for halloween. we should be quite a crowd, with seven of us in theatre quality costumes at a total cost of under $200. there are lots of crazy twists and turns in the chinese economy, with theatre costumes that would be $200+ each in the US selling for 20-30$ here, and yet, young women's daily fashion cloting and cosmetics higher than US price.

go figure.
