Wow, its amazing to see that we have come all the way to 2008 and there are still SO MANY racist people in this world. half of them not even knowing they are racist. I can honestly say I have not in my whole been bombarded with so many racial slurs and connotationa as i have had here in VJ of all places. I keep seeing peole write and speak about things that are HIGHLY offensive and hurtful to Black Americans and most VJ'ers make fun or joke about it. Having NO CLUE how deep some of the statements really go. I truly wish that African-American studies...the TRUE AA studies were taught in school cause most of this is pure ignorance. Then I see people mention aabout "White guilt", and thats the only reason why a White person should stand up to be against such racist statements. I think all people should stand up against racial statements no matter what your ethnicity is.

If anyone has ANY sense in this country they know what the association with Blacks and "watermelon and fried chicken" means. If you dont know get on GOOGLE and educate yourselves.

VERY Wise words.

I wonder what the white guilt crowd cares to say about this. Is this white guilt coming from an African American perspective or is this just anger?

Wishing you ten-fold that which you wish upon all others.

The images of a bucket of fried chicken and watermelon are racial epithets - stereotypes of what black people eat...

Sure, but what's so offensive about fried chicken and watermelon?

The latest newsletter by an Inland Republican women's group depicts Democratic presidential candidate Barack Obama surrounded by a watermelon, ribs and a bucket of fried chicken, prompting outrage in political circles.

"I didn't see it the way that it's being taken. I never connected," she said. "It was just food to me. It didn't mean anything else."

I just love this line. Heard this on the radio and I started cracking up. I believe her. Yes.

Seems most stereo types have some basis in truth.

Don't we feel free to stereotype poor whites as living in trailers.

Or Asian students as book worms.

or Politicians as being liars

or Mexicans enjoying customizing their autos?

When is it okay to stereotype and when not?

(Of course the race cards posted are way beyond the pale)
