Can somebody explain the stereotypes. What's with the chicken, watermelon and pork ribs I think..

According to the Internal Revenue Service, the 400 richest American households earned a total of $US138 billion, up from $US105 billion a year earlier. That's an average of $US345 million each, on which they paid a tax rate of just 16.6 per cent.

Can somebody explain the stereotypes. What's with the chicken, watermelon and pork ribs I think..

from CSMonitor:

The stereotype and caricatures featuring blacks eating watermelon - and

the companion assumptions about the purported laziness, uncleanness,

and mental inferiority of black children and adults - haunted every

piece of the red fruit I consumed through childhood and my adult years.

http://www.csmonitor.com/2005/0826/p18s02-hfes.html

.....

Used 1907, New York. According to Vernon, in humorous postcards, “black men and boys were portrayed as foolish, stupid or lazy, perhaps eating food like watermelon. Thousands of these images are still in circulation today, sometimes classified as ethnic or ####### cards and Black postcard ephemera has a higher than average market value.â€

....

The Ullman Mfg. Co., Copyright 1906, Used 1906. These cards, which were typically sent home to friends and relatives by people on vacation or were collected and placed in albums to show to visiting friends, depicted blacks stereotypically with exaggerated and animal-like features…invariably loving fried chicken, watermelon and possum.†The golden era of racist postcards lasted until the 1950s.

I actually sent this in to the RNC in the prepaid metered mail envelope they sent me when asking for a donation. While I will still support individual Republican candidates, I have zero use for the clowns at the RNC.

"Credibility in immigration policy can be summed up in one sentence: Those who should get in, get in; those who should be kept out, are kept out; and those who should not be here will be required to leave."

"...for the system to be credible, people actually have to be deported at the end of the process."

US Congresswoman Barbara Jordan (D-TX)

Testimony to the House Immigration Subcommittee, February 24, 1995

It may be racist stereotyping but so what.

There are probably way more racists in the Democratic party and no one is saying anything about that.

Why would that be, and why wouldn't anyone say anything?

I don't think the GOP is a party of 'racists' but I just wondered what makes you even suggest that the Dems are full of closet racists, that seems, well bizarre.

Refusing to use the spellchick!

I have put you on ignore. No really, I have, but you are still ruining my enjoyment of this site. .

It's pretty easy to just make an assertion. If it had any credibility, it would be backed up with something to suggest there is a huge racism problem in the Democratic Party.

I don't see them spouting off macaca and sending racist fliers to black neighborhoods in Ohio, or the sh!t newsletter here.

I also suspect the facts won't get in the way of a good bullshit response.

I will do a google search for you. I put one link before but will do it again. Do you prefer the whole article here or just the link? It is thought of right or wrong that the Dems are racist where I live.

So basically, in these three articles, the 1800s Democrats were the same as the 21st Century Democrats. There's little substance to the claims of racism toward really anyone else and how it plays a role in their party of today.

This is the best you could find from a Google search? Very sad.

Another one on their racist "past" (again, 1800s leading up to Robert Byrd's 1940s KKK endeavors -- very prominent in this country at the time), and the second one doesn't even give a single example besides "Ted Kennedy is racist!".

This is why anyone should dismiss luckytxn's assertions. Just does a Google search and gives a link without even reading the #######.

Which is the guilt part? Would be nice if someone could show how guilty I am even though I'm well aware of how I feel.

The problem in America when it comes to race is one I have been arguing since day one. That is, it is okay for one side to be racist but no okay for the other. Until this changes racism will never go away.

Anyone using this sort of ####### against Obama has lost it considering that Obama is 50% white and was raised by his white family. Trying to paint him as some gangsta rapper from the hood is not right.
