Hi all,

My wife received her her interview date for Nov 13'th but it was in Chicago (and were in California). Our lawyer immediatly sent a rescheduling request back asking for us to be moved to California. She stated that our interview would not work anyways since Chicago has no jurisdiction over Californians.

Needless to say My wife and I are nervous with this situation and don't know if one, we should go to the Chicago interview. 2, what this jourisdiction has to do with anything. And 3, should we expect to hear anything back confirming that they received a request for re-scheduling.

Thanks!

p.s. our paperwork was all submitted in Chicago to begin with.

What home address was put on the I-485??? The interviewing office should have been the one having jurisdiction over your residence address on the I-485.

Note: ALL AOS applications get sent to the Chicago PO box, that is the mail processing center for the NATIONAL BENEFITS CENTER, they process ALL I-485 for the entire USA.

I sure hope that the field offices get straightened out, IF Chicago fails to get the request, and you don't show up for the interview, thay can mistakenly assume NO-SHOW and start deportation proceedings, I have seen it happen before.

OUR TIME LINE Please do a timeline it helps us all, thanks.

Is now a US Citizen immigration completed Jan 12, 2012.

Your lawyer is right concerning jurisdiction. Even if you appear for interview in Chicago, they will not be able to interview her because they no longer have jurisdiction over her case. Way back i moved to another state and filled the AR-11, but i receive IL from the state i had moved away from. we went for the interview anyways, at the beginning of the interview we mentioned the change of address, the immigration officer declared the interview done because he did not have jurisdiction over us.
