Is this is a new thing. I hope people who have recently been through Mumbai consulate can shed some light.

I haven't yet received my package and not even sure if I will be (thanks to Indian post office).

Trinket and Manish...please shed some more light on this....

I posted this in other thread about Mumbai consulate....

Instruction packet 3 from Mumbai consulate is totally confusing and it seems that it's outdated. It's asking to submit DS 230 Part I, Birth Cert (Orginal and photocopy), Marriage Certificate (orginal and photocopy), Police Certificates....

We have already submitted these documents to NVC. I have received letter from NVC confirming the date of interview for my spouse and that letter also contains the checklist of documents that they have received.

To make matters worse, the Packet 3 instructions also asks beneficiary to pay $400 in Visa Fee. We have already paid this too....Oh and you also have to sign the Applicant's Statement on the last page of instructions....I have never seen this stuff.....

So What else is there left to send to Mumbai consulate via VFS???? Everything they ask for in packet 3 is already with them...I am totaly confused....

Guys ...

I also read packet 4 instructions and it seems that packet 4 is also asking the same things as packet 3....???? Birth cert., Marriage cert. Police cert., Passport, Biographic data form (DS230 I), Photographs...

All of this has been submitted at NVC so these instructions don't make any sense to me...???

This is what I think crazysamurai. Packets are outdated. If I remember correctly Mumbai consulate wasn't Appointment post around 8-9 months ago, I am not sure of the term to use, may consulate post or what, but do think that's where the confusion is all about.

With appointment post you send everything to NVC and then NVC forwards the same to respective consulate. And this is what present situation is, as far as I can tell, others who have recently been through Mumbai consulate for CR-1 visa, they haven't submitted any other additional document other than their courier fee, courier fee is mandatory, even if applicant decides to get their passport later at the evening of the interview.

I really hope, people who have been through recently would shed some light into it.

I am so lost with this whole thing. We willl be sending photocopies of everything along with our courier fee. They are not askig you to pay the 400 dollars. It states that if you have already paid at NVC then u dont have to but if you have not completed the payment process at NVC then you have to pay.
