that is what a bread machine is good for

but you can't make bread like this in a machine :P

Mother Earth News recipie

I have a machine, and we use it all the time (I don't remember the last time I bought a loaf of bread, we've had the machine for 4 years). But even in the oven, a loaf of bread is not going to be nice and crunchy on the outside like this loaf is. If you like artisanal bread, this is sooooooo easy do-it-yourself no knead for lazy people loaf. Its wonderful with soups and stews, you can dunk it and it won't just fall in. mmm mmm mmmm :)

You can get specialty flours and stuff at most health food stores, and some higher end grocery stores will have it in the bread making section. Even here in hicksville a few of our stores are adding more and more stuff like that. They're even carrying mixes for the bread machines now too. I can't remember the brand, but there's one that has a really good rye bread mix.

You can get wholewheat bread but it isn't the same as the decent seeded stuff you can get in the UK - Hovis anyone!? Ohhh for some real bread :D Maybe I should get off my behind and make some ;)

So am I right in assuming whole wheat is the same as wholemeal?

The Very Secret Diary of Legolas Son of Weenus - by Cassandra Claire

Day One: Went to Council of Elrond. Was prettiest person there. Agreed to follow some tiny little man to Mordor to throw ring into volcano. Very important mission - gold ring so tacky.

Day Six: Far too dark in Mines of Moria to brush hair properly. Am very afraid I am developing a tangle.

Orcs so silly.

Still the prettiest.

Day 35: Boromir dead. Very messy death, most unnecessary. Did get kissed by Aragorn as he expired. Does a guy have to get shot full of arrows around here to get any action? Boromir definitely not prettier than me. Cannot understand it. Am feeling a pout coming on.

Frodo off to Mordor with Sam. Tiny little men caring about each other, rather cute really.

Am quite sure Gimli fancies me. So unfair. He is waist height, so can see advantages there, but chunky braids and big helmet most off-putting. Foresee dark times ahead, very dark times.

Sorry, but I NEED to know: is that me, or American milk is... odd?
As an Americano drink-milker, I remain uncowed by your inference, and that's no bull.

Moooooo!
Q: What did those self-centered French cows say?

A: "Mooooooiiiiii!" :)

Hi!

Sorry, but I NEED to know: is that me, or American milk is... odd? I mean, it's like white ink, it doesn't look like milk, it's too thick, and it doesn't have any flavour and taste. My question is: am I crazy, or there's really a difference between European and American milk?

Moooooo!

It's the plastic bottle that makes it smell and taste weird :dead:

European milk is in plastic bottles, well that's how you buy it in the supermarket here. Makes no difference.

but it shouldn't be

where is the nummy bread with bits in? bread here is a FARCE

I can get bread with nummy bits in it. At Wegman's. It might have the EVIL too, but since that's what I'm accustomed to eating, its no great shakes for me. The Arnold breads are really good though. I do treat myself to those now and again, or I'll buy some fresh from the nummy Wegman's bakery where they do make some excellent artisan breads.

I think the answer is that you need to move somewhere where you can get to a Wegman's. Just ask Krikit. She can vouch for the veracity of this statement!

On a serious note, what I do look for on food labels is red dye and caramel color. They are in EVERYTHING! My son has reactions to foods with red and caramel colors which turns him into satan personified. Took me years to figure out where his uncontrollable rages were coming from, but since I took him off foods with red and caramel colors a year ago, he is a different kid. I had been told he was anything from ADHD to Bi-polar. I truly believe that all these kids being diagnosed as ADHD are actually sensitive to red/caramel colors.

They put so much unnecessary ####### in our foods, these companies ought to be ashamed.

Wegmans FTW!!!!!

And I agree with you about the allergens and how professionals misdiagnose chemical reactions, Julez. Once I modified my son's diet he changed completely.

There's the answer! Everybody drink milk from California!
