Hi All,

My wife got a K1 visa to come to the US, now we need to fill out the supplement vaccination form to file the I-485 form. I would like to know where I can go to be vaccinated in RI, which place has the best price and is the safest. Give me a rough idea about the price and how long it might take?

I am from Pawtucket and I used Dr. Littell. I paid $45.00 for the vaccination because I don't have insurance(prices ranges from 45-75). Most of the surgeons are not familiar with the K1 process and they will suggest taking full medical just tell them vaccination is all you need. I had my shot last June, so I'm not sure if you need more than vaccination for the I485 nowadays.

The required vaccines are MMR, Varicella and Td. If you have your vaccination record from your country, you can use that record and take it to the civil surgeon to have it transcribed to form I-693A. If you are missing any vaccines, the doctor will tell you and provide them for a fee. I'm unsure how much they are. My husband brought his vaccination record from Mexico, and he had all of them, so he only charged us the fee to transcribe which was $40.

Hi dawnlake23,

Thanks for the reply. I will follow up with the Dr. I am interested to know whether you need to make an appointment with this Dr. or was it a simple walk-in? By the way, the $45.00 you paid, was it for one or more vaccines? Which vaccine(s)?

It's a simple walk-in. The $45 is only for Tdap because that is the only vaccine I needed. It might be higher if you need more. My suggestion is, call first to check the availability of the doctor(days and time). Some doctors are only in the clinic a couple days a week. Goodluck...

my wife lost her vaccinations forms from hr country so the doctor gave her blood test to see which anti-bodies she was carrying. Some of the vaccinations they just gave her. All told we spent about $500 for the blood work and shots... insurance will not cover this

Hi! When was the original physical done? See the following...

Here's the USCIS document on the new vaccine/TB skin test requirements.

http://www.uscis.gov/portal/site/uscis/men...0004718190aRCRD

Here are the impt dates from that website.

Date of Medical Exam

Do I have to submit the revised Form I-693?

Does the medical exam have to be done in accordance with the new TB requirements?

Do I have to receive the new vaccines (if age appropriate?)

Before June 1, 2008

No

No

No

June 1 – July 31, 2008

Yes Edition dates 4/2/08 and 6/5/08 are acceptable

On or after Aug. 1, 2008

Yes - must submit Edition date 6/5/08

Yes

If you have had your medical within the last year, you do not need a new medical exam. Do not let the CS try to talk you into on. Depending on the date of your medical, you may not even need the new vaccines.

Go with copies of all the printed documents. The I-693 instructions and the print out of the website that I gave you above.

Here are the I-693 instructions.

http://www.uscis.gov/files/form/I-693instr.pdf

Do you have a copy of the DS-3025 (the vaccine list) that the doctor did when you got the medical exam? That should save you some time on getting tested for immunity. My husband's process took a month for testing, getting the shot and getting the info transcribed onto the I-693 (this was abnormally long because he had to get one of the immunity tests done twice, see my signature).

You can often also go to the local health clinic and get much of this done for free. My insurance paid for my husband's blood work and shots. Sorry that yours did not.
