Yesterday, my Fiancee had her interview at the US Embassy in Manila. She arrived at 6am for her 7am interview. She went through the screening process and finally spoke to the Counsul at 12pm. Everything went well, but the Counsul asked for a "certificate of no marriage."

My Fiancee had heard that we may need this document, but we were not able to obtain one before her interview. We called the Embassy asked the day before her interview if we needed this document and they said no. They told us that this is the reason we pay for document verification.

After she finished her interview with the Counsul, he asked her to go to a different window. Again, they asked about the certificate of no marriage. My Fiancee let them know that she did not have it and was told that we did not need one. The person at the window said not to worry and handed my Fiancee a pink and a white paper.

What do these colored papers mean? From what I understand, a blue sheet means denied or come back with more proof, pink and white means - passed but still requires documentation verification, and pink only means totally passed. Is my logic correct? Has anyone else experienced this before?

It makes me nervious, because I want her here in the States as soon as possible. Can anyone help? Btw...this is for the Embassy in the Philippines.

Hi Chris,

First off, yes you do need a "certificate of no marriage". You fiancee could get this from NSO. But since she had already her interview, i think, there's no need for her to get that.

As for the colored papers she get, the pink one is from Delbros that will deliver her passport with Visa on it. The white paper - if it's like that of a regular 8 x 3 1/2 size paper - then she has to comply what was written on there - or requested from -- before the US Embassy proceed the paper work. If this the white paper that goes with the pink receipt from Delbros - this kind of just a copy of the pink one.

I hope I help you in any way...

It makes me nervous, because all the white paper says is that they must verify things and wait to hear from us. How long will that take? Will it delay the process of obtaining her visa? I have read horror stories of people waiting months. Ugh...this process sucks!

My fiancee also had her interview on 15 Oct and had a similar experience. Except no one mentioned a Certificate of no Marriage (cenomar) She went to window 37 after the interview and received a white paper with a laundry list of required documents. At the bottom of the page a line was checked. "WAIT UNTIL YOU HEAR FROM US: Your case requires further administrative processing/review. Wait for a letter telling you when to return to the embassy with the documents marked above". None of the documents were marked and Cenomar is not listed. There is a diagonal line from top left to bottom right with the Consular Officer's signature at the bottom.

My fiancee also went to the delbros window and paid for visa delivery, where she received a pink card. But there is a disclaimer. If the visa is denied the payment will be refunded.

On the advice of a member on another forum, ninja rocket, I called the embassy. The woman I spoke to said that my fiancee did need to have the cenomar but would not or could not confirm that was the only additional document that would be required.

According to what I was told, my fiancee can obtain the cenomar at the NSO and take it to the embassy Mon. thru Thurs. between 1 and 2 PM. and deliver it to windows 17 thru 20. I suspect that she should also have the embassy checklist with the CO signature. I hope that this is some help. Best of luck to you and your fiancee
