Cancelling I-130 for filling it at the consulate?

Hi. My name is Andre, I am a new member here and I have a big dilema! My wife is from Romania. I sent the 130 on March 16 and the 129 on April 4, I got NOA1 on April 14, but it seems like it takes a long time to get NOA2. If it goes like this she should be here in September if we are lucky.

Now, I was thinking to go to Romania to apply overthere for 130 because it only takes like about 3 weeks or even less. The problem is that I have already applied here and I dont know if it is possible to go overthere and apply one more time at the consulate. Would they know that I am applying again? Or should I cancell the 130 petition that I filled here so that I can do it over there?

From what I've been told and from others' experiences... people decided to cancel their petitions and decided to do Direct Consular Filing, because as you said, is wayyyyyyyyy faster. Just contact the service centers and tell them to cancel your file and that you'll be going over to Romania to file there instead. But be sure before you cancel, that you can actually do it in Romania.

You need to find out what the residency requirements are in Romania, as to wether you even qualify to do DCF, before you even think about cancelling your petition.

According to the Bucharest website you must be a resident or have a compelling situation.

I agree with aussiewench, every embassy does DCFs differently and have different requirements. Need to check.

I did the same thing that you are contemplating. My wife was living in Japan, and I filed the paperwork from the US and it just took too long, so I flew to Japan to do DCF. However, I did not cancel the original petition until AFTER the DCF had been approved.
