I am soo upset right now!! I mailed my husband his package on the 25th and was told by DHL that it would take 3 days. I went through everything that is in the package as well as the DHL guy packaged it. However, since the 26th it has been stuck in Customs! They have no idea when it will be released and even if they did release it back to me, I don't have enough time to mail another package!

This package has packet 4. His interview letter and his paper that he needs to take to his medical.

I called DHL and begged that they do anything that they can. However, I was told, "this happens all the time with Iran". Why didn't they tell me that when I mailed it?!!?!

So, any ideas guys? Maybe I can get the NVC to mail me another package and have it faxed to my husband in Iran?? I can't believe this is happening 8 days before his interview!!!!

Hello My Friend,

1st-Have a deep breath. Things are workable. You have time to work it out.

Tomorrow, call DHL and speak with a supervisor. Find out where it is exactly, and call that hub. Be as nice and as calm as you can muster up. Be kind, and calm, and tell them what you need done and why...

Get names (first and last) of everyone you speak with-write down times as well. If they cannot help you, ask very nicely, "who can I speak to that can help us ?" They have to give you over to someone that can help. Accept nothing less than getting someone to help you ...Strong, yet kind is the best way to get it done. Ask the questions and let them respond without saying a word. (a common sales closing technique) It works...

Also, have Ali call them as well, in the same manner...

See what happens with that...You'd be surprised ...

Next, if you strike out with that angle, call NVC. Speak to the operator, and explain what happened. They can get copies for you to fax.

You have some time to work it out-don't panic. It's going to be cool.

Let me know if there is any way I can help you further Joye.

Maybe he could contact the consulate and explain the situation. They might give him another packet. Hopefully he can get it, but if not he should still go to the interview. It is difficult to reschedule. At that point they would issue a 221g requesting more info. Another delay, but it doesn't seem like you have much choice.

Sorry for the troubles.

Hi Rose!! Thank you for your support!!! You are such a dear!! (F)

Ugh it just feels like the closer we get the more things are not working the way they should!!

I called and spoke with DHL on Saturday night and they said that they would put a tracer on the package and that he posted why it was urgent as well.He said they really can't do anything because customs has it not DHL. All I can do is pray that they send it through. Alot of our evidence is in that package :crying:

I will call NVC first thing in the morning and ask that they send another packet 4 just in case. Then I will have it scanned and email it to Ali.

Ali went down to his local office in Tehran, and they said that hardly anything was getting through. He told Ali just to have me keep calling.

I will keep ya posted!!

Joye

Hi Morocco4ever,

Thanks for the advice!! We are both going to try and get through to the consulate and ask what we can do as well.

I do have an email from the NVC with his interview information on it, but I am not sure that they would accept it.

I have 8 days, hopefully I can get it taken care of.

Hi...

Yeah, I would call NVC and get another pkt 4 to fax as well as calling DHL, just to cover your butt.

I know it's an unecessary stressor in all of this, and you certainly don't deserve such BS. It's going to work out.

Keep me posted.

Ohhhhh.....I have a friend that works for FedEx, and she may be able to offer up some advice. Her number is at my office, and I will give her a phone tomorrow. Will PM you tomorrow afternoon what she tells me.

Mailing documents to other countries from USA is a concern. I think, the best thing is to send them via "Global Express Mail- Guaranteed" from USPS. It is more expensive than other methods, but it is guaranteed and you can also track the mail using USPS website. You can check, whether Global Express Mail Guaranteed is available to the country that you are trying to send documents.

I-130 Timeline with USCIS:

It took 92 days for I-130 to get approved from the filing date

NVC Process of I-130:

It took 78 days to complete the NVC process

Interview Process at The U.S. Embassy

Interview took 223 days from the I-130 filing date. Immigrant Visa was issued right after the interview

Hi simple_male!

I checked with the USPS and they don't offer global express service to Iran. DHL is one of the best ones over there. I send cards though USPS and they take an average of about 5 weeks.

I just called DHL and they said they are looking into it. I found out where the hold up is with the package and called Wilmington Oh. They said call back at 8a or 5a my time. Called back trans to a supervisor, he said call Dave. Called Dave no answer left a message. Dave called back said call another office. Called that office and they said since it is stuck at customs there is nothing that we can do. However, she said send me an email with all of the information in the package. Done, waiting for a reply.

Called NVC this morning and they said they won't send another appointment letter, but they will send the medical letter. So, that is being sent.

At this point even if we don't get the package he is planning on going to the interview. He will take with him the email that I rec'vd confirming his appt. His ticket and room that cost $700 is non-refundable, so he might as well go in anycase and see what happens.

UGH!! I never thought it would get to this!!

Yodrak, no I don't have a copy :crying: I sent all of my copies in this packet to him, never thinking that this would happen. :ranting: I don't understand if they knew that there was a problem with sending to Iran, why didn't they tell me when I explained what the documents were for?!?!?!

Worse case is he will take this email that came from the NVC. Hopefully that will work.

Shoot.......I would be pissed to. Just what you dont need leading up to the interview. I know I was stressing a lil about package from my hubby containing my interview letter....but I got it today. There is still a chance too I imagine that it will clear customs and still be deliverd on time. Just have him have on hand anything that may get him into the consulate for the interview, just in case. Fingers crossed for you. *hugs*

I have to say it.......To all reading this thread...

Make a copy of EVERYTHING to do with this process....Two copies even, to be on the safe side because one never knows when they will need them.
