Sending a Group Letter to Four/Five Congressman Who Oversea USCIS

As history has shown many times b/f, there is power in numbers. Those of us who are waiting and getting no news from the VSC can cry every day and do nothing or take positive action. Wouldn't it be good to draft a letter with blanks for name, address, receipt number, etc, and several of us who are being impacted now can print, sign, and mail it to at least 4 Congressmen who sit on that committee. Of course, each of us will have to send it to our own reps, too. When the committee of 4 or 5 sends an inquiry, they will repsond, I belive. If anyone else is interested, I can draft the letter by this Fri. Just let me know what you think.--Amor1

You have my support. 6-plus months with nothing is long enough for me. Kudos to you, I just e-mailed my congressman about this yesterday.

This is a great idea and I'm in. I've been writing my congress reps for about a month now, weekly e-mails and monthly snail mail. Its best to get the message accross with a standard letter format but each of us personalize it with our own story of how this slow immigration process is affecting our lives.

I just got an answer from my congressman. Who is on this commitee? Lets do it!

I was thinking of incorporating a spreadsheet a couple of us are maintaining to show the inconsistencies.

It clearly shows CSC is speeding right along while the VSC is laaaaaging.

"you fondle my trigger then you blame my gun"

Timeline: 13 month long journey from filing to visa in hand

If you were lucky and got an approval and reunion with your loved one rather quickly; Please refrain from telling people who waited 6+ months just to get out of a service center to "chill out" or to "stop whining" It's insensitive, and unecessary. Once you walk a mile in their shoes you will understand and be heard.

Thanks!

I agree with you. I am with you on this matter.

I am really worried about the processing delay. When I started this process back in May 2008, I was hoping that my wife would be here latest by December 2008. Now I fear that she won't be here till spring of 2009 and here's my reasoning. We are fast approaching November and we all know that November & December are "slow" months as far as productivity is concerned at workplace. That's why we must keep reminding VSC that while they are celebrating the holiday season with their loved ones, we are eagerly waiting to be united with our spouse/family members.

I will start working on the draft letter and upload by Friday. If you, or other VJers have additions, just respond, and I'll get them. The point, I think, is to have a letter that several of us send to the members of Congress who sit on the "oversight" committee for USCIS. There is such a committee, and they should know that we followed the guidelines for submitting our petitions very strictly, respecting the work of the USCIS and putting faith in our government's systems. We believed that we would be treated fairly, and that our spouses and children could come here to the United States legally. Most important, we had faith that the process would be humane in terms of the time frame. So far, many of us have seen others get approvals/responses in general, faster than what they assert is their normal, just order--"first in-first out" and therein lies our deepest fears and roots of frustration. Sorry to be long-winded, but I get this way when I think of how long our separations have been. All the best--Amor1
