In tonights debate I think McCain is gonna go Incredible Hulk on us. Watch for the green.

He might go Soylent Green if he keeps up the attitude.

This is the advice he's getting from his fellow conservatives on NRO:

Advice to McCain

John J. Pitney, Jr.

What demeanor should McCain display tonight? Angry doesn't work. Solemn doesn't work. ake-smiley doesn't work. Instead, McCain should go back to his roots and unleash his inner smart-aleck. If Obama accuses him of being erratic in a crisis, he should say: "So I'm erotic in a crisis? Who knew?"

This approach has a couple of advantages. First, it enables McCain to show the more appealing side of his personality. Second, it throws Obama off his game. His handlers have surely anticipated every possible attack line about Ayers and Wright. And as a good liberal, he's waiting for the chance to say, "Have you left no sense of decency?" But he'd be hard put to defend against ridicule. The One can't handle the jokes.

So to get ready for the debate, McCain should lay aside the notes, crack open a beer, and watch Animal House.

Will he bring up William Ayers? Or will the moderator? Or neither?

McCain has to bring it up. He's turned it into the very reason he's even running.

Man is made by his belief. As he believes, so he is.

Man... I REALLY hope he brings up Ayers.

Why, do you think there's an Obama upside to it?

Well, politically, its nonsense and most voters in realityland have no interest in that nonexistent 'connection.' Its yet another GOP ruse that won't go through.

Wishing you ten-fold that which you wish upon all others.

VW never actually answered how Mickey Mouse can walk into a precinct and cast his vote, as well as Batman and others, or how a same person with the same physical address can walk into the same precinct and vote 50+ times without someone noticing. I'm still waiting on this one, to give any legitimacy to the complaints regarding ACORN and voter fraud. I have yet to see, or hear about, any of the aforementioned occurring, especially in the state of Ohio, relevant to the article.

"The fact that we are here today to debate raising America’s debt limit is a sign of leadership failure. It is a sign that the U.S. Government can’t pay its own bills. It is a sign that we now depend on ongoing financial assistance from foreign countries to finance our Government’s reckless fiscal policies."

Just to inject a bit of silliness in to this thread:

The majority decision stated that " Nothing about this case, or the relief ( Ohio Republicans, who bought the suit) seek will allow them to prevent a single voter from casting a ballot in the November election...

A problem that has been addressed in previous threads is that Brunner has ignored advice about allowing same day registration and voting and then refusing to hand over the records of registrants that do not match the Bureau of Motor Vehicles or Social Security records to the county boards of election. A clear violation of the law and is not a party issue. (Congress HAVA, passed after 2000 election debacle)

So the fact that Brunner ordered all the computer voting machines be replaced with paper voting slips and that there were insufficient ballots available for all precincts in the primaries.

Add to that the violation of same day registration and voting. Then the fact that she has been ordered to produce the records by this Friday and she has said she probably will be unable to comply.

Next is the fact that she has run out of Absentee Ballot forms.

Not the best record of any Secretary of State of either party, so I really don't see this as a Party issue.

He must have not gotten the memo that most states require absentee voters to ID verify and not be first time registrants.

Most of this so called 'voter fraud' can probably be chalked up to the poor quality of the workers. Low pay, probably some form of 'piece' work would lead to workers adding names to get paid more - totally explains the presence of cartoon characters and football teams.

People who really wanted to try to commit fraud in this way (which incidentally has to be the most labour inefficient way to attempt it as someone has to 'impersonate' the voter which would require enourmous logistical organisation on top of everything else) would use names that resemble real names so as not to ATTRACT ATTENTION to themselves.

The most simple explanation is often the true one.

Refusing to use the spellchick!

I have put you on ignore. No really, I have, but you are still ruining my enjoyment of this site. .

COLUMBUS: Ohio's top elections chief has asked the U.S. Supreme Court to intervene in a dispute over whether the state is required to do more to help counties verify voter eligibility, a spokesman for her office said Thursday.

Secretary of State Jennifer Brunner, a Democrat, filed an appeal the high court late Wednesday, said spokesman Jeff Ortega.

...

Ortega said the office would release a statement later Thursday on why she chose to file an appeal.
