Its much easier to manipulate voting machines to provide the result you want it to, and no one would ever know. Especially since some places don't keep any sort of verifiable records.

At one time, Iwas registered to vote in three different precincts, under 3 different names without even trying. Attempts to straigthen out the error fell on deaf ears. It is possible to vote as Mickey Mouse? Why not? There are weirder names, and in some places, you don't even need IDD to vote anyway,

I don't see how anyone could argue we should allow anyone to register and/or vote, without verifying eligibility.

What you showed me is nothing new, and actually voter irregularities were quite common in Ohio as well, which prompted Bev Harris to go to Ohio. You might want to look into Kenneth Blackwell's (Republican's) history with Diebold, and the wide open security flaws within their voting systems to easily be tampered with. He frantically avoided testifying in every single situation regarding voting irregularities. Now, I wonder why that is? If there's vote tampering from voting machines there is certainly no innocent in both parties -- wonder why only now most states are having paper trails? Hmm.

This story was highly covered in the 2004 elections thanks to Kenneth Blackwell's extremely close ties with Diebold, and lawsuits filed thanks to Bev Harris for exploiting the fact that the machines could be tampered with.

Again though, it has nothing to do with voter registrations, i.e. the point of the topic.

hmm well, i am no legal scholar. but when a judge renders the latest 6 hundred k registrations void... assumming that x percentage are proper registrations. there will be a good number of now un-registered citizens showing up to vote but will not be allowed to. makes sense to me. some folks may insit on voting and maybe some of them will be allowed to (i understand there are some methods for aloowing this). but the point is that it will now be harder for some citizens to vote. while it remains to be shown how the 'falsely registered voters will actually vote.
